Description Previously:

Thanatos left the cool air of the cave, and stepped out into the sunshine and warm breeze. It was not so hot that he would consider it uncomfortable, but he knew that might not be the case after a few hours of travelling. However, Thanatos still controlled power over the wind, and knew that he could command a breeze from the glistening ocean shores to soothe himself if the temperature rose uncomfortably.

He stretched his legs, and broke out into an easy run. Thanatos almost forgot how much he enjoyed charging across the ground, pushing himself to conquer any obstacle before him. And yet, there were no obstacles here, just a relaxing landscape with glowing sunshine and vibrant colors of the turquoise crystal sea reflected on neighboring islands. The countryside had a raw beauty that seemed to exist independent of time, where soft sand and sculpted rocks were broken up by bits of grass and foliage that thrived in the warm weather. Thanatos took a deep breath of salty marine air, and charged forward.

Just getting in some practice drawing my pretty boy. Sketched in pencil, scanned, color/background added in PS.

Hellooo

Just to advise that Loneron22, stolen my identity. She is not Laurie Neron the photographer. She took my identity and my work and created an account on Deviantart with my personal infos and all my pictures. What she did is a Fraud , don't encourage this personne, what she is doing is wrong, i really think its having serously a BIG problem. I wrote a message to Deviantart and contacted the Canadian police department.

Oh, I can't even begin to imagine how frustrating that must be for you.

Of course, I never would have used that image as a drawing reference if I had known it was stolen, as I always make sure that the author allows their drawings to be used first and then provide a link back for proper credits. It breaks my heart someone would take your pictures, put them on dA and give out permission to use them all behind your back. I have looked up Laurie Neron online, and will change my link (for the reference) to redirect people to the FB page, the proper site.

I wish you all the very best of luck in getting your art theft dealt with and handled as quickly as possible.

Art theft is beyond uncool ... and I can't say how sorry I am that she did that to you.

Well, I definitely won't be using any more of those stolen photo's as references. I went through my favorites folder, and deleted all the images from that account that I had fav'd. I don't want to support a false account. I also updated my reference link in the description of this image, to your FB account (so people can enjoy the originals from, and support, you). Please let me know if that link is okay.

I wish you the very best of luck in getting this taken care of quickly.

Beautiful, dreamy scene!
I love those fine details in this picture, especially mane and muscles.
This style looks so fascinating that I might have to try combining traditional and digital art also myself.

And of course looking forward to read where Thanatos' path will lead. ^^

Thank you so much.

Most of my inspiration came from the beautiful reference picture I used. Hard not to be inspired by something as beautiful as that horse. But I do admit, I'm really starting to like this mixed media artwork. Sketching by hand (with a good old fashioned pencil on paper) is still my favorite way to draw. It's very therapeutic and relaxing for me. And leaving the image as a sketch (without going back to line it) is so much faster.

I like the option of adding color digitally too. On days where I just want to throw down some flat colors, I like adding the digital color. It's bright (not loosing color quality like a scanned traditional piece would) with color, and even (it'd take me forever to color with pencil and get a even, flat-colored appearance).

I'd definitely recommend you give it a whirl... I know your art will look amazing in mixed media (since it's already so stunning)! And I'd love to see some.

You're very welcome!

This method really is appealing not just because it looks great (at least in your style - not sure yet how my pics would look like ) and because you mentioned a word "faster". For me it also takes ages to color my traditional pictures and even if I love doing things with pencil and paper it would be nice sometimes to get something done fast and not loose details or lack quality. Just to do something a bit quicker. ^^
