Finally catching up on all the art work I owe. This one is an art trade between myself and the illustrious . She recently created a new fan experiment named Monet, who I simply adore! Anyway, she wanted to have one of my experiments interacting with hers and this idea came about. Nicki is the sort who aims to please...even if she isn't successful. she's certain she read somewhere that you can more easily make friends if you do something that they like...right? It seems Nicki planned a trip to an art museum just for Monet! She doesn't understand why a random conglomeration of shapes and colors constitute as art, but if Monet likes it, then she is willing to give this "art" thing a chance. Look, she even got berets! AAAAHH HOW GREAT IS THIS??? XD When we agreed to the trade, I was so excited to see which of your characters you were going to choose to interact with Monet and I just. COULD NOT. be happier with the outcome. XDDDD Ray-of-sunshine, wants-to-everyone's-friend Nicki meets moody, prince-of-emo Monet? That is BRILLIANT. XD I love how different their expressions are, Nicki looks so excited to show off the surprise, while Monet is just utterly confused... XD It highlights their different personalities so well! AND THE BERETS TOO, gosh Nicki, you really went all out. I'm sure Monet appreciates your efforts... somewhere... deep down. XD
I love that you went all out with the background too, from the art pieces to the lights in the ceiling. I know I've seen art galleries with that style of lighting before. I need to step up my game for my end of the trade now. X3 Don't worry, Nicki, I don't understand modern art either. XD
And I gotta say, I LOVE the marking that you added to Monet's foot! If it's okay with you, could I make that a permanent part of his design? :3 I've always worried that my design for him was a little too bland, but another marking like that definitely makes him more visually interesting to look at. Plus it balances really well with the marking on his face.
Also, I'm sorry for taking so long with my end of the trade. D: October was a busy month for me with library programming and November probably will be too, blehhhh XP, so I haven't had as much spare time to draw as I would like. But it's coming soon, I promise!

I honestly thought about Monet meeting Joy, but really it would have ended with them at some sort of poetry night drinking coffee with a blank expression, while they never said a single word to one another. To be fair, I doubt Monet would talk to Nicki either. I am really happy you are pleased with my selection. There were so many choices that I thought about, but I loved this idea too much to pass it up. OF COURSE BERETS ARE CLASSY...right?

I'm glad you went with Nicki too, the outcome is just too much fun! XD And ohhhh, I don't think Monet would refuse to talk to her! Tbh, he'll talk to anyone if they stand still long enough. XD It's just that it's usually all depressing stuff like, "Why bother doing anything when we're all just going to die and be forgotten anyway? :c" and "My art is hopeless; I'll never be half as good as the old masters! DX" He's actually a bit of an attention seeker that way. XP So the situation here is TOTALLY something that could play out!! Especially if Nicki feels bad for him and decides to drag him off to an art gallery to cheer him up. XD

Aww noooo, using references like that is never cheating! <3 That's actually the best way to draw backgrounds! c: It was a good idea and it shows in the result! I need to do that kind of thing more often myself. Just sit down and practice backgrounds from photos/reality until I get semi-okay at them. XD I knooooow, right? "THIS RANDOM SCRIBBLE IS ART BECAUSE I SAID SO AND BECAUSE IT ACTUALLY REPRESENTS THE CORRUPTION OF INNOCENCE." I just don't get it. XD
