Description

Bored. Absolutely one-hundred percent bored. Tuxedo had been gone for quite some time now and Kai had continued her migration on her own as planned. Granted it had been slowed down because of her need to check on her stash of treasure. Today she had selected a large necklace from the pile and dawned it like a tiara, admiring the way it would occasionally catch the sun and glitter. Still, it wasn’t enough for her today. There was no entertainment.

Normally, Tuxedo would have made some sort of stupid and boring archeological statement by now and the two would have bickered about what to do the rest of the day. Naturally she would win, but picking on Tuxedo was amusing.

“Tuxedo….”

The name left a bittersweet taste in her mouth as she recalled their last encounter. She had run into Tuxedo at some stupid little ranch near Palmpona and the weak little legendary actually seemed satisfied to stay there with two humans! Given their fight before that, Tuxedo had been more adamant in his resolve and, even when she had tried to knock some sense into him, other pokemon had stepped in!

First the whelp had the audacity to challenge her, to stop her from claiming her treasure, and then he has an army attack her when she tried to bring him home?! Who did he think he was! He had told her to give it a chance and even persuaded her with stories of a nearby sunken treasure he had located near an island close-by.

She was a sucker for treasure and had eventually taken him up on his offer. However, she hated being there. Those two humans treated him as if he were some sort of…”pet” and, what’s worse, he enjoyed it! Kai had remained distant, and avoided contact with the lesser pokemon of the ranch.

She had offered a Suicune a chance to be her lady in waiting, but the beast had scoffed at her! When she decided to teach the brute a lesson in manners, her lacky had stepped in and fended her off. It was a humiliating defeat and the final nail in the cofagrigus.

She was a legendary, creator of the seas! Even Lugias were supposed to bow down to her! Without her kind they would have no seas to patrol! But that suicune…. How dare she! What? Did that mangy beast think she was better than a Kyogre?! All they did was purify the waters, waters that Kai’s kind brought! Of course, then there was that…thing.

She recalled the forest glowing brightly momentarily as she had begun to leave, followed by an unearthly cry. She could feel rage as the flames jettisoned outwards from the cliff side. Then…she saw him. He hadn’t concerned her in the slightest at first, especially since he was much tinier than she was, but she felt herself becoming anxious as soon as she had heard him talk. The way he walked, sending ghostly sparks of electric energy as he walked, and the way his very eyes gleamed as the forest fire reflected off them all unnerved her. He hadn’t noticed her and she felt no reason to hide herself, until someone else arrived at the scene. While she was certainly a legendary pokemon, she didn’t feel like fighting one against two in their favor.

She had hidden herself in the rocks nearby when the two ghostly pokemon began to chat. The scarier one asked if the other had been followed, resulting in a prompt “no”. Upon confirmation, the leader continued. He mentioned some of the ranch pokemon, mentioned something about a kidnapping, and then…. Their conversation was as grim as they were, and, while Kai wasn’t a goody-two-shoes like her brother, even she knew this plan sounded terrible.

She traveled away from that island before she heard the conclusion to the frightful plan, more than ready to leave that place behind. Now she was here, halfway back to Hoenn with nothing to entertain her. Perhaps she should have stayed at the ranch a little longer. Nothing to do though she supposed and continued to swim for another thirty-feet before being stopped.

“The seas are fairly calm today it seems.” A voice stated.

The eerie voice shocked the legendary who had been quite certain she had been a lone. She turned to glance at the source, a small, mild sense of dread creeping throughout her entirety as she noted it to be one of the ghostly individuals from the Cliffside.

“Name’s Logan.” The ghost-hybrid introduced himself, floating just out of reach of the water.

Kai barely acknowledged him at first, but she was intrigued by the ghastly vulpine pokemon’s sudden appearance.

“Should that mean something to us?” Kai retorted.

Logan gave a half-hearted chuckle floating just inches from the kyogre’s face.

“It certainly should!” Logan began, the beginnings of a twisted smile creeping on his face, “You see, YOU heard something the other day that you were not meant to hear.”

The Kyogre began to inwardly worry, but kept a cool front, looking back at the vulpix/gastly hybrid with her steely red eyes.

“It doesn’t concern us. We do not even know what you are talking about and wish only to head back to our treasure.”

With that, Kai dove under water, quite certain that she had gotten rid of the creepy pokemon. However, actual surprise came to her face when she heard the splashing of water. A shadow ball connected with her back, sending her plummeting to the depths of the ocean. While her common sense told her to escape, her pride as a legendary egged her on. She used the speed of her decent to turn around and ascend quickly to do a full out breach. Her speed worked too as she was able to catch the hybrid off guard and launch a water spout attack, sending him hurtling into the waters below.

“Pft. Naturally! He was was no challenge for us.”

Her gloating was short lived as something else hit her, the beginnings of, what appeared to be, an aura sphere connected with her, resulting in a screech in pain. Now it was about more than just pride. Kai was determined to prove that she was strong.

“You didn’t really think that a measly little attack water spout would be enough to get rid of me on the first shot did you? My boss had me train rigorously so that I could face you in combat.” Logan sneered.

Kai roared, charging and origin pulse to silence the braggart. When she fired, Logan nimbly dodged, his gaseous and ghostly body making him incredibly agile. Kai fired an ice beam, nailing Logan’s back leg, giving her a small feeling of accomplishment as she saw him slow.

“As we stated earlier, we have no interest in anything you, or your enigmatic boss, have to say.”

As Logan grew more serious, his cocky smile disappeared. His eerie green eyes narrowing momentarily, and the ghostly firey tails of his seemed to flare. However, his temper was short lived as the arrogant smile returned to his face.

“It doesn’t matter whether you care about our plan or not. My master can’t risk you turning soft if your brother gets involved.”

Her brother?

Kai let a momentary grimace come to her face. She may not have cared for the inhabitants of the ranch, and she may have been a bully to Tuxedo, but he was all the family she had. Logan could see that he had finally gotten through to his legendary target, a full sneer brimming on his face.

“Ah see? There is a reason for you to tattle. All you would need to do is tell your brother who would, in turn, tell the rest of the ranch and we’d be ruined.”

Without letting him finish Kai released a sheer cold, aiming directly at the arrogant hybrid. She thought she had successfully gotten him when everything fell silent for a moment, but she soon found she was very mistaken. Logan shot out from behind the large iceberg and fired back with a reciprocating thunderbolt. The electricity sent her sailing through the air, a new and sharp pain in her side. She wasn’t given a time to recover as Logan was on her, looking her in the eyes.

“Well, as fun as this has been, I think I’ve played around enough.” Logan jeered.

His eyes seemed to dance, and Kai was soon lost to the rhythm.

“Time to sleep”

A powerful hypnosis was lulling her into a sleep that she would never awaken from.
