Description Huh, what? What's this now? Another character sheet? Ha ha, uh, guess I should catch you guys all up to speed.

So this my character concept for Chris' design as appears in both "Resident Evil: Relapse" as well as "Gilded Gage".

For those of you who don't know (or have forgotten), "Resident Evil: Relapse" is my own personal fanfiction/fannon/headworld (whatever you want to call it). It's the same story that Cayden and Brandon are from. So in essence, you could say that this is what MY Chris looks like when he is older. If you don't like it you can suck shit and go away. Cause I think that my muse is much better looking than RE5/6 Chris. At least he actually LOOKS and ACTS like Chris. Hurm. >:T

The other story, "One More Night - A Gilded Gage" , is a roleplay board that I'm currently engaged in. It's pretty much kickass. You guys should go check it out.

Basically there aren't any real differences between RE:R!Chris and GC!Chris, so I've combine their reference sheet into one. Same age, same uniform, same occupation, except that B.I.O. is LONG GONE by the time that Gilded Cage rolls around. Chris just doesn't know it yet...

Really, I'm pretty damn proud of how this came out. I'm getting better and better at drawing older men. He keeps telling me to quit calling him "old", but I'm not gonna. Chris, you're 44. lol

Now you guys all know what he looks like in Cayden's universe, as well as on the board. HUM. Guess that's it for now.

If you think about it Chris is like the very true reincarnation of a 80s Action-hero. He plays that action dude persona sooo straight without any irony or winks. 100% deadly practicall and room for any bullshit.

Also I love the drawing of the more older and experienced Chris, he looks more agile and less buff^^

That was exactly what I was wanting to communicate when producing this take on Chis; I feel like his iterations in 5 and 6 are extremely generic, and take something away from the character that he used to be. He had a lot more heart in the older games, even if a lot of people might have missed it. In the newer games, there really isn't any heart. He's just filling a role.

The version of Chris I use for my roleplays/art/personal headworld (however you want to call it), is a much different take; as you said, he's older, and more experienced. He's definitely not the roided-out, jaded, bitter somber and sarcastic Chris from present canon, even if he is someone who has seen a lot of shit.

Thank you for the comment, it was really quite appreciated!

I think esspecially in Code Veronica he is really cool how he cares about his sister^^ I mean yeah I dont like him in RE 5, but I somehow liked him in RE6, because every other character was acting and dressing so over the top he felt like a good addition. Maybe I think of him that way because I thought Chrises Campaign in RE 6 was the one with the least QTES and the least annoying, I know that its very much disliked for its heavy focus on action but honestly when I rented RE 6 from a friend I hadnt had high hopes^^

I think your take on the character would be really cool, I mean he is practically the embodiment of a straight soldier and not a simple fighting machine. Like you said he had seen some shit but that doesnt cloud his justice by becoming bitter or overly sarcastic. ^^

What I really, really love about him is how much he does look exactly like a muscular man who has gotten older. He's still strong but you can see where he's thicker and even broader. Looks much more like someone who has aged but done so quite well. He definitely looks much better than any of the newer versions. I also like the fact you can tell that his face has been well lived in and that it has been a hard life. You can tell he's been a hero because of the toll that has been taken on him. The eyes are a little sadder as well and definitely get the impression that there is something been lost to him.

Saying that he's still obviously quite an attractive man but more than that, there is something quite kind about his face. Something that would make someone like him quite easy to trust. Might just be cause already know him but I think you've just done a perfect job with it. There is something soft about his expression that makes him seem like a really good man.

I also like his outfit Can't go too far wrong with a vest and combats

Thank you thank you~ Because that's exactly what I was going for. He's obviously not the spry young 25-year-old who lucked his way through the mansion's rigors, but older, smarter, and a hell of a lot more experienced. Not that he was ever really a "rookie" back in Raccoon - he's always had talent and been a skilled operative. But by now he's a certified vet, and has definitely lived a long, hard life.

19 years of fighting biohazard outbreaks and bunting up against Wesker have definitely taken their toll; I'm glad that that slight sadness in his eyes reads, and that there feels something lost - it's innocents. I feel like in RE1 and RECVX Chris had this innocent, naive optimism that the good guys win and the villains fall. After fighting for so long, I think it's finally set in that the road to victory is a lot, lot longer than he had ever anticipated. That's taken something out of him. But NEVER enough for him to just keel over and give up--that's one of the things that I hate most about RE5/6. Probably the thing that I hate THE most, as a matter of fact.

I'm glad that the kindness and the handsomeness still reads as well. I should think that Chris is the type of person that people just inherently believe because he is so honest and UN-malicious. That comes across in his very countenance - There's a certain sort of light and charm and bull-headed persistence in his face and in his being that is infectious, and can cause others around him to keep up their hope. He's definitely a good man, and definitely a hero.

Ahaha, and no. One can't. He's still sportin' old colours, and they still look good on him.

RE6 was sort of a joke game though. Have you seen the troll-face capcom logo? I am thinking that is probably accurate.

What I hated the most was where he tells the hardened mercenary who was a child solider to let their contact (a man there only to help them) to die. I think if I had to describe a scenario that was everything Chris was not, it would be that.

Think as he gets older he sort of learns to accept that the heroes suffer for everyone else to get through. I think the pain post CV would probably be what made him very aware of that. Especially if (as I assume) he was living with Jill who must have about three hundred shades of PTSD after Nemesis (who after Wesker is the scariest thing in the world. Bar nothing.)

There are just some people it's easy to trust because they never do anything selfish, watching someone like that, it's hard not to feel respect. He's uncomplicated and very giving, that I adore about him.

Is that suppose to be Chris Disguised as a U.B.C.S. mercenary???

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Resident-evil-STARS In reply to Steven-CodeBlack [2012-06-22 13:11:18 +0000 UTC]

Uh, no. The U.B.C.S. don't have exclusive rights to Green tactical vests or shirts or anything... That's like saying that if a character wears a gas mask they're automatically part of the USF (or "USS" as they're called now. whatever.) :/ It doesn't work that way.

This outfit's actually supposed to be slightly invocative of his REVCX uniform. Only real difference is I gave him a white undershirt, and took the pouches off his tactical vest and instead put them on a utility vest. Also gave him back his khaki fatigues and knee-guards from RE1 rather than the plain green fatigues he wore in CV.

Steven-CodeBlack In reply to Resident-evil-STARS [2012-06-23 16:45:05 +0000 UTC]

I see its mainly with the boots and leg holstersI see how it is a mix of both RE1 and RE CV Chris but the U.B.C.S. wear Black Vests with Green upper body fatigues underneath along with whitish beige lower body fatigues and the actual lower part of Chris's RE1 outfit looks closer to grey I did notice that there was no U.B.C.S. logo on the side of the sleeves something that may help make it look less like U.B.C.S. is including the S.T.A.R.S.

Steven-CodeBlack [2012-06-22 05:40:10 +0000 UTC]

Why does that outfit of the guy on the right look the same as the U.B.C.S. Delta Team uniforms?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Resident-evil-STARS In reply to Steven-CodeBlack [2012-06-22 13:09:35 +0000 UTC]

It's both the same character (both are Chris Redfield) just the one on the right is coloured with the proper local colours while the one on the left was left matte, so that you can better see details that get lost in colour. So the uniform's the same on either one.

: / I actually don't think that they look all that similar, to be honest. I didn't design this with the U.B.S.C. uniforms in mind. But sorry for the confusion.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Resident-evil-STARS In reply to HalfGhostBrawler [2012-06-16 05:46:26 +0000 UTC]

XD Nope. That would be "Resident Evil: Frailty": Frailty is the roleplay between *Evios and I that Mr Corrupt!Chris is from. Haha, I know it's getting confusing between all the different "time continuum", but basically there are three of them:

1) Relapse.
Resident Evil: Relapse is my own fannon. It's the story Cayden and all of my other OCs are from. Relapse is ALL mine.

2) Frailty.
Resident Evil: Frailty is the story with Corrupt!Chris. And sadly, no, I don't think he will ever be able to free himself from Wesker's snare, but even if he did he'd still have the scar across his face, and that broken, slack, dead expression would never go away. Rather, Corrupt!Chris cannot function without Wesker. He crumples into a useless ball of sobbing, hysterics, and then mute, broken silence. : |

3) Gilded Cage.
Gilded Cage is the name of the Resident Evil section of a DBZ/RE roleplay board that I am on (the DBZ section is called 'Against the Dark' and the RE section is 'Gilded Cage'. The board itself is called 'One More Night' - [link] ). The story is called "A Gilded Cage" because it revolves around the premise that Wesker has rounded up several people and stuck them in a mansion replica, just to entertain himself by watching each one of them struggle to survive.

So THIS Chris (points ^) is what he looks like in both RE: Relapse as well as A Gilded Cage. While this version of Chris his his design in Frailty. Make sense?

I imagine life-and-death scenarios whilst fighting zombies, Umbrella's B.O.W., and matches against Wesker means that he's kept in better physique than most men his age, but I don't like to think that he'd be a steroid gorrilla, like that THING in RE5/6. ene

I think they were just trying to make him different from Leon, Leon is in great shape but he's not very big, so they wanted to make Chris the opposite... Unfotunately, they went a bit overboard and now Chris looks TOO big! However, I think it would have been interesting if in his introduction to Sheva, she asks him how he got so big and he admits that he was so humiliated by his inability to keep up with Wesker that he used a virus on himself to enhance his strength and reflexes, it's clearly less powerful than the one Wesker used, but more stable, so the only problem with it is that Chris has become so heavy that Sheva needs to be the one who moves with agility instead of HIM. Sheva then asks him if he's afraid that like Wesker, he too will be courrupted by the power. Chris replies: "I don't know..." But Sheva wants to work with him anyway because she knows that he's still a good person, and truely cares about his friends.

I don't really care what other fans may speculate Capcom's reasoning was; fans can speculate all they like. I still think that it was a bad move, that it's stupid, and that the RE5/6 "installments" of the series are a piece of shit. I feel the same way about Degeneration, Darkside Chronicles, Revelations, and Opperation Raccoon City. It's all shit. It pisses me off. And I have no interest in discussing it, period.

I'm not trying to sound rude, but I've had this conversation SO many times they've frankly just stopped caring. I've seen all the arguments made about why they did what, and it still pisses me off. I don't consider the games cannon, I wont, and so bringing up what Sheva said to Chris or vice versa isn't going to change my mind, because I don't regard it as cannon.

Thanks.

It's not a problem. You didn't know. ...Maybe I ought to plaster it all over my page somehow: DON'T TALK TO ME ABOUT RE5/6 UNLESS YOU WANT SNAKE VENOM IN YOUR FACE!!! lol. My frequent watchers know how adamantly I feel (I don't see how they can't, lol) but... passer-byers through my page can't know that. Again; it just gets frustrating having the same conversation over and over and over again. Remaining a part of the fandom means, of course, that I am going to HAVE to put up with the next-gen fans, but I am only in it for the old-school stuff. Anything past REUC I disregard as cannon. But that's just me. *shrugs*
