I always compare myself to any artist I can think of.

A work should be judged on its own merits, not by comparing it to better stuff.

I think Tolkien needs to be on there, as well as Spenser, Carol (Lewis), Marlow, Woolf (Virginia), Ray Bradury, Mary Shelley, and many other authors as well. But I get the gist
