It's really fantastic that you are shading your drawings like this. I was always too afraid to even try so it's really great that you are putting the time and effort into it.

I started really getting inTo drawing at the age of 12. Actually when I first began drawing, I did realism in pencil. The more realistic the better! It is still one of my favorite methods. In this piece, I wanted to see if I could do a piece that is half gestural and half realistic. I wanted to mix two styles.
Lately I've been experimenting with micron pen.
I was in college, working on my bachelors degree during the past few years. So it was tough to create a ton of extremely detailed works on top of doing classes and internships. I think that's part of the reason I leaned towards micron pen.

It's funny because recently my grandmother sent me these drawings that I did when I was really little and I hadn't realized I had been drawing that long. It was when I was around 7th or 8th grade I think that I really started to draw as a hobby. But Ive never wanted to be too realistic, i can appreciate the talent and effort that goes into it, but I find the interpretations of non-realistic art to be more interesting. It is not a bad goal to have however, to be a realistic artist ^.^

I started to draw regularly at the age of 12. By the age of 13 my work was very photo realistic. I may post some of them as Throwback Thursday pieces or something. Who knows?
Anyways, I went to college and took 2 art classes. (Mind you, that art was not my major.) One of my professors was really big into India Ink and Micron Pen. So, I have been doing that for a while. I've really enjoyed it.
I think both realistic and stylized works are fun and rewarding to create.

Well, i must agree that you have gotten the eyes down perfectly! I like the intricacies you placed on her hair and curls. I think Ms. Taylor's nose is among the most difficult I've ever come across so props to you!

Nice job!
You really did the hair well. Curls are hard to draw, especially those that are the likes of Elizabeth Taylor's. The facial features are well done and semi-realistic (in a good way), they suit her very nicely.

really? Thank you so much. I worked very hard on them. Drawing the iconic eyes and face of Elizabeth Taylor was a very big undertaking. The only difficult side of drawing someone so famous is that you have to check the features to make sure that they are accurate. However, it is a great reward when you have it right.
