Description Hi guys, tried using Genesis 8 base with HDRI and was quite impressed with the quality.

Anyway here is an impression of a regular US Volunteer infantryman as he would have appeared in the early part of the Spanish-American War (1898), the Boxer Rebellion (1900), and the Philippine-American War(1899-1902). For more information you can refer to the suggestive reading below or simply GIYF.

At this point the regular soldier still wears the typical campaign uniform- darker blue wool shirt flannel, sky blue wool trousers, light brown canvass leggings and russet leather boots, and his haversack would have been made of light canvass as well as his campaign hat, which is cavalry at this point. He is equipped with the Mills-pattern cartridge belt of 1896 along with his issued Norwegian-designed .30-.40 Krag-Jorgensen rifle or carbine.Khaki trouser would have fully replaced the sky blue trousers in the latter part of the Boxer Rebellion, with the arrival of reinforcements, as well as the latter tropical campaign in the Philippines especially in Mindanao.

Implementation of the Khaki uniform would have been copied from British designs already adopted at the time and would become widespread following the outbreak of World War I.

Suggestive reading: The Spanish-American War and Philippine Insurrection (1898-1902) by Alejandro de Quesada, illustrated by Stephen Walsh, Osprey Publishing, 2007
