Making your decision you give Drizzle what you hope is a confident look and tell him that on your cue to jump. Drizzle glances down at the gap then nods to you. You both crouch down ready to jump and you tell Drizzle to jump now. Taking a running leap you soar across the gap and smack down onto the roof near the apex. You grin at your success and look around for the next place to jump while waiting for Drizzle to make the jump. However looking around there isn't really anywhere to go from here. Frowning you turn to look behind you to see Drizzle's tail disappear. Panicked you race back to the edge to see Drizzle diving down toward the pond below. Without thinking you leap after him.
You flail a little as you plummet. Below you Drizzle disappears into the water with barely a splash. You grit your teeth and clench your eyes shut bracing for impact. You smack into the surface of the water with a loud splash. You're stunned for a sec but as soon as the chilly water closes over your head you snap out of it and scramble to the surface. Your muzzle breaks the surface long enough to take a huge gulp of air but you can't seem to get your paws moving in the right way to yourself afloat. As you start to sink Drizzle appears out of the corner of your eye. To your surprise he grabs you and yanks you down to the pond floor. You struggle panicked for a sec but Drizzle puts a finger to his mouth indicating you to be quiet. It looks like he says something but his voice is too garbled for you to make out.
A loud angry shout muffled by the depths comes from far above you. You and Drizzle look up trying to make out who shouted. You think you can see a figure far above at the top of the cliff but it's so far away and hard to see through the wavering water you can't tell who or what it is. After what feels like a lifetime the smudge disappears. Your lungs are burning begging for air. You try to push away from Drizzle but your limbs don't feel as though they are responding right. Suddenly Drizzle pushes off the muddy ground dragging you up with him. You break the surface and sprawl across Drizzles back cough and gasping gratefully gulping in air. "Sorry, I wanted to make sure they didn't see us in the pond. How are you feeling?" Drizzle asks looking at you out of the corner of his eye.
You wait a moment catching your breath before responding. You snap at Drizzle what was that? You demand why he jumped into the pond and didn't follow you to the roof. Drizzle looks shocked at your question and exclaims. "Kit! I can't jump that far! Totodiles have stubby legs." He kicks a leg as if to emphasize his statement. You humph and state that apparently you can't swim so the pond was a bad idea too. To your surprise Drizzle rolls his eyes. "Yeah that's why I would be there to catch you like last time. I've always helped you whenever we had to swim somewhere."
You open your mouth to retort but then you really consider his words. You realize that both you and Drizzle had been responding to the situation as if the other knew how the other would react. You can't remember how you and Drizzle would usually work together however and Drizzle wasn't a psychic type. He can't exactly read you mind to figure out what you were planning. Thinking back it's not like you had anywhere else to go once you made it to the roof. Trusting Drizzle and jumping into the pond really was probably the best decision to make there. You probably should've have asked Drizzle what he thought before you acted so rashly.
You open your mouth to apologize but Drizzle beats you to it. "I'm sorry. I guess I should have considered you wouldn't remember because of...you know." Drizzle admits sheepishly. You give him a comforting grin and tell him you should have taken into consideration that Drizzle couldn't read your mind. Drizzle laughs at this and responds, "I guess we both have to relearn how to work together then huh?"
You begin to respond but a shout cuts you off. "Hey over there!" You and Drizzle look over to the shore line and see tree Pokémon standing there. An excited looking Steenee in the middle is waving and asks, "Do you two need any help?" Drizzle nervously looks back at you and asks. "What should we do?"
