You wanna say you're surprised? Seriously? Come on, he would've ended up kissing Anders's neck anyway. Of course, the presence of Morwenna doing... things with her hands may be a bit distracting and embarrassing for a shy guy, but here's the secret of this picture: you can put your palm on one of the Hawkes, and get a two-sided pairing you need. Honestly, I don't want to watch any romance videos before I complete my playthrough, I've got a feeling going out with Anders would be so much more pleasant if Morwenna was a man... Because now, by the act 3, Anders seems to be a woman in our relationship. Unstable, hysterical, idiotic woman. :/

Ooh boy, I think I could write an essay on why Anders is so unstable in Act 3 (apart from the obvious Justice-shaped reason.) And I don't know, but I think the male romance actually conveys it better, he seems to talk about it more? Anyway, I think the thing to bear in mind in Act 3 is that while Hawke has been solving everyone's problems for three years, Anders has been the failed hero of his own story. He's been trying to run the mage underground. And without the Qunari around to distract everyone's attention, and without a Viscount to curb her power, Meredith is stamping out that underground. More mages being made Tranquil every day. More dying. More turning to blood magic out of desperation. If you side with the Templars, apparently you even find evidence that mages' families are being hunted and killed now. When Anders says, 'Our cause is nearly lost,' he means it. I read somewhere that the Chantry Seekers - people meant to control the Templars - actually paid a visit to Kirkwall, decided what the Templars were doing was justified because so many mages were using blood magic, and left, without looking at the root causes of the problem. Oh, and apparently, Meredith had already written to Val Royeaux to ask for the Rite of Annulment to be allowed. There is virtually nothing stopping her from marching into the Gallows and declaring every mage in there has to die.
In short? Anders is utterly desperate. Add that to the spirit inside his head - which has no concept of patience, remember - and a bit of instability is pretty much inevitable. Just... bear all of that in mind for what's to come.
(Aaaand I wrote an essay. Dammit, Anders, you flawed broody feathery apostate, your story is too interesting. )

While reading, I thought 'oops she's written an essay again'. But I love your essays, and I agree with every word. I still have a detailed headcanon about Morwenna's attitude to the situation, though. Y'see, when she arrived in Kirkwall, she was young, pretty stupid about some things and convinced that mages deserve to be placed over all other people, since magic abilities are nothing other than the Maker's highest blessing. Renegade, praising Tevinter she actually knew nothing about, hating templars, the Circle and everyone who disagrees, she was willing to gain an ultimate power and even cooperate with demons. But after she met Anders (and fell in love with him, womanly) and Fenris, she started to understand things. Morwenna's number one life rule is 'never step back', even if she's proved to be wrong, she'll never take her words back and never give up. So, after she promised Anders to stay on his side whatever happens, support him whatever he does, there's no way for her to refuse, being trapped inside her own principles. But her attitude has changed over the years: she does not share Andres's extremist views so thoughtlessly anymore, he himself have changed her, and still she agrees with him even when everything inside her shouts 'NO WHAT HE'S DOING IS WRONG', which causes a conflict inside. That's why Morwen can't help but feels angry about his deeds, she blames Anders for giving up on his own struggle with Justice-Vengeance ('...this was not a potion.' - -...WHAT?') and betraying their future, and though she supports him. Not only as an ally, but as the lady of his heart, too, and even if she has to die for him, despite him being weak and hysterical and driving her mad all the time... Oh Morwen, you were so lucky to end up into an unbreakable love with a pain in Kirkwall's ass.
