Description Just a quick sketch of the interior of T's room, with T and Jim in the picture for scale and practice. T's is the only room with a loft, because it's got smaller square-footage. There's one lamp in the room, and mirrors set up to pull light from the skylight down into the room. The big wooden structure behind the ladder is a wardrobe, and in the reflection of the mirror over the bed you can see the other bookcase that lines the wall behind the viewer.

I really like how it turned out. Let me know what you think!

Oh yeah, I'm still trying to come up with a name for the graphic novel, though I think I'm starting to settle on the name "Parallel". If I can come up with a clever logo design for it, I may just stick with it.

You've really given this a lot of thought, I'm impressed. How long did it take to draw this? There's a fair amount of detail.

Aw, thanks One of the things I stress to my class is that you have to diagram your environments, you need to know what's where in each of your main environments, so you can maintain continuity. So, I diagrammed her room, and did little sketches of the interior at different angles. I spent a day doing that, maybe taking two or three hours altogether, with this sketch on top of it for another couple of hours. Sketching it was easy, it came together fairly quickly. Inking and shading it is what took the longest, especially since I was getting bored with it. It didn't look nearly as good as it does now when it was just inked, too, so I was discouraged for a while xD I'm glad you like it.

I definitely agree. I always make sure that I have a good mental image of a character's room or other environment, but I never have the patience to draw it. I don't like doing things with lots of straight lines. Landscapes, I don't mind, I just have to take them in chunks because there's a lot of work that goes into them.

I'm pretty lucky at being able to draw straight lines pretty well, lol. Though, I hate it when it comes to inking them. That's when I pull out the ruler. I love my t-square *-*

I really need a good ruler. Mine is terrible, which is probably part of the reason I hate drawing straight lines. It has little groves marking all the inches that make my lines just a tad bumpy. I need a new ruler. I should also invest in a t-square, now that I think about it.

Yeeeah, forget a normal ruler and just get a t-square. Just, make sure it's a drawing t-square and not a drafting one xD One of my students, his mom got him a t-square, and it turned out to be one of those huge drafting ones xD

Well, I was cleaning my room and found an old book on drawing that came with pencils, charcoal, etc. and it had a couple of cropping Ls! I think those will work until I have a good place to keep a T-square.

Haha, yes, Ls will work quite nicely. My T-square's kept in a pencil organizer. Which isn't very organized... It's got pencils, pens, markers, scissors, a pearing knife (for work with clay), paint brushes, pliers (for work with wire)...and a few photos of me xD I've got a Tootsie Roll bank holding a bunch of other stuff, too xDD I should really take a picture of the chaos of my work station...
