While Fi was still reeling slightly from the change in weather, Yeti seemed to revel in the brisk air. Nostrils wide, eyes bright, he obviously felt in fine form as Fiona wrestled yet another bit of kit out of his mouth. A happy Yeti was a mouthy Yeti.
Heading out towards the warmup arena did nothing to take the edge off his eagerness, as soon as Fiona hit the saddle, she had to sit hard to discourage his forward momentum. A steadying hand and a few minutes of breathing exercises helped horse and rider reach some level of equilibrium.
It was a fine balance though, and precarious as Fiona fought to keep her pre-performance nerves from reaching her mount.
Grateful that they were one of the first to go, meaning slightly fewer people around to witness the trainwreck she felt certain was coming, she took one last deep breath and turned a jigging Yeti towards the ring.

He had kept it together as well as he could, considering his high spirits. A couple of over enthusiastic canter departs, once accidental halt to canter transition and some circles that were perhaps a bit more oval than intended, due to his intense desire to become an actual giraffe. But still, overall, not as bad as it could have been.
