hi! I have the intention to make my own dress/skirt and petticoat, so I have search for a long time for lolita (sew) tips, but the petticoat is just a bit hard to search...I mean, I found some types and patterns of petticoats, but they are a-line pattern, and I want to find a bell shaped petticoat pattern. I want to know if this tutorial is for a bell shaped?
thx for att,

Haha yeah. it's not so bad. You could just layer more tulle in, at the same lines and at different lines as well. just more layers of tulle!

I love GosuRori's tutorials!
But iif you want a lot of poof, try using petticoat netting. Its different from tulle because its a lot stiffer and you dont need a lot of layers of it to give it volume

RhodyGunn In reply to okami-chan1023 [2011-01-23 08:54:40 +0000 UTC]

Honestly, petticoat tulle is kinda gross. It's scratchy and tough, and doesn't really stay nice. I prefer organdie pettis.

I don't even use this petticoat alone, i layer a few other ones i've got from various places. pettis are frankly a bitch to make.

I use this one just as extra fabric in between sometimes (and by this one i mean one of the 80 bagillion i've made. lol.)

I am thikning of making it from 3 3 meter double layers of tulle... so it will be like 6 layers and super poofy XD watchu think? or maybe just 2 double layers for 4? cuz im trying to make the simplest one for me because its just easier for me to make it super poofy and let the skirt shape itself if that makes sense? XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RhodyGunn In reply to TheBestButter [2010-08-13 02:26:36 +0000 UTC]

Too much tulle and it'll weigh itself down. I would suggest 2 for 4. If you want more, make it like a double sandwich; with an extra layer of cotton between, so you've got tulle under and over it.

RhodyGunn In reply to TheBestButter [2010-08-19 04:27:17 +0000 UTC]

Dependds on the petti.. 20$ petticoats are usually awful or not appropriate for Lolita.

well it's actually not 20... more like 50 ish... but yeah I'm just trying it... if it doesnt f=work for lolita i can use it for something else

*-* I've been looking everywhere to find a good petticoat tutorial/pattern that wasn't confusing. I'm so happy to have found one to fix up the one I attempted to make several times for my lolita cosplay. XD (its doesn't have the right poof)

I'll be working on your tutorial as soon as I buy more fabric(Taffita and Tulle) but this is the out fit I have [link] its a constant work in progress but I feel I'm nearing the end were I can feel completely satisfied with it. It has a nice poof with the crappy petticoat I attempted but I want more poof in it. XD

Thanks SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!!!!!!

I was a little skeptical of being able to create enough poof with just 2 layers. I first tried making one with the traditional 3 tiers method, and it didn't turn out like I wanted. However, your method turned out great!

I only made one and I was surprised at how simple to make and how poofy it was! Though I'll probably make another one anyways for extra poof.

When I upload my dress & petticoat, I'll be sure to credit you.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RhodyGunn In reply to Rubybaga [2010-01-18 05:14:24 +0000 UTC]

Cool! Link me? I wanna see!

It also works to put another layer of netting between the two, if you so desire... I don't like to, because I can only handle so much gathering in one sitting, however, other people might have a bit more patience than I do. xD

Rubybaga In reply to RhodyGunn [2010-01-18 07:08:52 +0000 UTC]

Once I get around to taking a picture, I will!

I see, thanks for the suggestion! Also, your gathering technique rules. 8DDD It saved me A LOT of time.

This is nice ^-^ I was trying to figure out all sorts of foreign patterns before I found this and this just made everything click I like my petticoats VERY poofy, so it would be possible to add many rows of poor, ne?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

RhodyGunn In reply to HakuAndMe [2010-01-11 14:03:59 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, you can add as many as you like... though I think at a point they'd get to be TOO much. xD I like to layer them, make two and wear them both for example.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

HakuAndMe In reply to RhodyGunn [2010-01-11 21:47:24 +0000 UTC]

Well I just dont quite understand how I would be able to wear one over top of another, I would think it would just get rid of the poof because of the cotton(I'm still working on it x3) How would the measurements work out then? If I just added multiple layers, because I think that would be easiest to me
