“Time is like a handful of sand- the tighter you grasp it, the faster it runs through your fingers”

An hour glass is often thought to represent time, in that the sand in the bottom portion is the past, the grains passing through the opening are the present, and the top chamber is the future.

This picture was inspired by all of my peers, and myself. In highschool, so many things are pressuring you. What classes to take, what University/College to go to, etc. When all we really want to do is have fun. All of us have probably wished we could stop time at some point. Continue living with our parents and having them take care of you for the rest of our lives. To keep having fun with our friends, and to stay young and carefree forever. But no matter how hard we try to stop time, the sand will just pile up and keep spilling over us.

The girl in the hour glass was originally supposed to be me, but she ended up looking quite different. Anyway, I'm really happy with this piece, though I might come back and critique it more in the future.
