I can see you've used digital painting combined with actual photos of people and it all blends in wonderfully... there's a sense of a vivid place filled with human voices, clanking of metal, splashing of water... There is so much to see, yet so much more to imagine while looking at this piece.

Yet, a minor complaint must be added: the redheaded woman in the front stands out. It feels as if she's the only element that didn't blend in. This is not me saying she shouldn't be there, just pointing out a detail that could look better with a little tweaking.

Once again, great job; I'm still looking at the scene you've built.

The girl in the front looks so real. For me, she makes the whole piece feel like I'm right there, at the harbor. So cool!

Haha maybe time to finish some off then Feel free to run anything past me if you want some feedback or advice!
And thanks. I'm trying to improve so I can work on some blockbuster films or AAA games. It's so damn tough to break in though... seriously... insanely difficult.

Haha school won't teach you how to do this unfortunately, unless you go to the famous Art Center in Pasadena. But you can teach yourself like I did, if you're determined

I could probably come close with the buildings now, but no way with all the detail and people...My heart always lands on plants, animals and water life anyways.Β  Maybe I should work on some kind of organic city half under water..."inspired"!

Go for it! Don't just think about it.. do it You'll be proud of it when it's done. Collect some photo references.. draw out your perspective grid, and the rest will be easy Show me when you finish!

That's really awsome ! It's weird because it made me think of an indian city near the Ganges. It doesn't look like it per say but the global feeling you know ?

I love it but I'm def getting sort of a Mediterranean feel, somewhere around Northern Italy. I ask all the time, but what was some of your inspirations for this piece. Beautiful as always by the way.

I was very much inspired by a place in India I visited call Varanasi.. if you check it out I'm sure you'll see the similarities. They are famous for burning bodies by the riverside there.

I actually find this to be quite beautiful. Even with the darkness, there's a softness to the scene. The city is rough, but there is still life even when it's struggling. To me, this scene suggests people recovering from a disaster. Regrouping themselves and forging ahead.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RhysGriffiths In reply to rakda [2016-04-11 13:19:59 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad it comes across like that. I intended it to be dark and gritty, but still feel like home, rather than being evil. The sort of depth I would like to see in some films.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rakda In reply to RhysGriffiths [2016-05-08 20:37:04 +0000 UTC]

Many films would seriously benefit from that feel. It's less evil and more survival with the people holding onto hope.
