So pretty. Oddly enough I like the pose. Not seeing the face makes it somewhat mysterious.
How did you get the colors for gold? I know part of it is shading, but I can't get the right starting color when I try gold.

Sorry for the ridiculously late reply. I'm pretty sure for this piece I sampled colors from photographs, when I do that I watch where these colors fall on the spectrum then try to mimic without sampling directly from the photo. Afterward I copy the layer then go to image>adjustments>levels and play around with the sliders to see if I capture better tones. I only used the burn and dodge tools for small high contrast areas. It's very easy to go overboard with burn and dodge tools.

Really beautiful. I love the pose, and the hooves on the front feet are very well-drawn. The scales are also incredibly well-rendered, as well as the golden tail. And the way you cannot see the face ... it's really interesting, I love it. Different and interesting, mysterious, liek the creature of the legends. Great job.
