Description Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor.

I stopped watching Doctor Who during Colin's incarnation as it was getting too silly even for me.

Poor oversight of the show seemed to be dooming it into being a poor parody of itself.

Still, he played his part and this means I only have Sylvester McCoy to go to complete all ten.

This was a relatively quick drawing, trying out yet more methods.

Why does everybody seem to associate Colin's Doctor with a bad series... was his series really that naff? (I really don't know, but what I've seen of him so far didn't seem that bad)

But I really love how you've drawn him, he looks great

I like Colin. Except for the arguing with Peri that they had him do constantly. His coat was awesome.

I fear that this era of Doctor Who caused me to stop watching....

I actually like Colin Baker second only to Tom.

I meant no offence to the Colin Baker fans. Thanks for commenting. Favourite Doctors are like favourite Bonds. Everyone has their own opinion and that's great. Variety and spice...or something like that!

No offense taken. I know he is terribly unpopular, but I found his odd brashness what brought me to the show in the first place, and figured I would stake my claim as "that guy" who happens to actually think he was alright.

He certainly took the alienness of the Doctor to new levels. Would they get away with that type of personality with the new series? Would they be brave enough to try?

From what I've heard, Colin was the only actor fired from the role. Apparently, they blamed the poor ratings on him, and not how horribly everything else about the show had been thrown together.

That said, I haven't actually seen much of anything from the Colin Baker era. And that really has nothing to do with your artwork, which is as excellent as usual... and constantly improving, as creative work tends to do.

I don't think it was fair to blame him for the downward turn the show took back then any more than you could say Chris Eccleston single handedly revived the show. Each plays their part and the look, scripts, direction, production values and support from the BBC all bear on things.
That said with rose coloured specs, the old episodes grow in charm!

Fabulous! The way you've included all the creases and folds in the skin without overdoing them is so awesome--and I love his eyes--so bright and attentive! This sort of "mouth ajar" facial expression can be really difficult, but you've done this so well--a wonderful portrait!

Thank you. It has taken a while to summon up the enthusiasm to complete the Doctor collection. Not being fond of this Doctor incarnation didn't help, and finding a decent reference picture for Colin Baker was a nightmare.

Yes--the ongoing and mostly frustrating search for suitable references! I guess that's why some artists develop that "photographic memory," and can work strictly from memory on likenesses! Me? I'll be the one hunting for reference photos until I'm old and gray! lol! The picture was worth the looking, though--it's definitely "The Doctor!"

Looks great! I'm thinking of creating some Dr. Who drawings myself, maybe based on the current television series.

Jeez! You were quick at posting this one! Colin was my first and my last Doctor 'til the amazing Tennant came on the scene, so I've kinda got a soft spot for him, and for your pic too!

Well that makes it all worth while. I really resented Colin Baker's portrayal at the time but I have softened over the years...

Well done! Tho I haven't seen any Doctor before the 9th.....I guess I'll try the former Doctors if time allows.

Ahhhh! I must say something about the the last ep of season 3, really enjoy this ep!
And after the history changed back to what is should be, there were several scenes. The funny thing is I realized one of these scenes is Nanjing Road (the most famous commercial street in my city and my country )! What's more funny, I think the scene must be recorded more than 10 years ago! And today the road is totallly not like that.
