...back in the 30's and 40's, when you had a "crush" on someone, you were said to be "carrying a torch" for them.......Torch songs were songs of longing and loneliness, heartbreak and unrequited love, like this:
"Don't know why
There's no sun up in the sky, Stormy Weather
Since my man and I ain't been together
Seems like it's rainin' all the time........"
...or this....
"There's a someone I'm longing to see
I hope that he
Turns out to be
Someone who'll watch over me....
The Torch songs were some of the most beautiful songs ever written (I've even written one myself!!), and this drawing is just my salute to one of my most favorite musical genres.

This is very cool. Reminds me of when I lived in Chicago in 2010. I would occasionally visit a great jazz club over on Rush Street, on the North Side, called The Backroom.
I REALLY wish I could have seen music like this back in the 30s and 40s, in person. 
I was born too late for that, but we can still admire it.

...yes it is; I hope she will be going home Sunday (today), she has been hospitalized for 4 days now, and I am weathered in and cannot get a flight out to go be with her---very frustrating....

...I'm in Alaska, yes. ...and when that snow hits, I'm often trapped on this beautiful Island of Kodiak, a wonderful place to be trapped, mind you---until an emergency arises, then it's infuriating!!! Alaska has also recently had a nearby volcano erupt, sending ash into the air and literally closing down Anchorage International....so it becomes a trade-off, living in Paradise, eh?

...yes, exactly; 99% of the time it's wonderful living in Alaska, and 5% of the time it can be a real pain. It's a good trade-off, couldn't ask for anything better...
...yes, the volcano is playing havoc with the mainland, but its ashes haven't reached Kodiak Island yet, so the air where I live remains fresh and clean and utterly pollution-free!!!
...and regarding Governor Palin, politics and ideology aside, I think she's a total BABE, you betcha!!!
