Hehe, well... It's hard to explain, but it's mostly down to using soft opaque brushes and remembering the properties of water, i.e. its extremely reflective surface.

Well I used different techniques for different parts, but I generally had seperate layers for each colour, which was very useful as I could lock them for shading. the general shading style was soft shading, using mostly soft round opaque brushes of the appropriate colour. The water was more in a painted style because it is what gave the best effect, I felt :3
