I hope I got the category right D: It has been longer than forever since I submitted anything...

Well, I'll start at the beginning. This is me.

My work, the ABC Shop (commercial branch of the Australian offshoot of the BBC - British Broadcasting Corporation), had a Doctor Who Night in celebration of the release of the new David Tennant series on television. As staff we had to dress up as the different Doctors. For the Doctor Who fans, you'll probably be able to guess I was Colin Baker.

Ahead is a...longish description. However if you have any queries about the costume itself, read along and hopefully I've answered it D: If not, ask :B

The hair is mine, albiet teased a bit by the hairdresser on the night. My mum made the costume from an array of dress and curtain fabrics. Mainly curtain, due to the terrible range of colour and texture available at the only dress fabrics store in Hobart. I made the cat brooch (that you probably can't see very well) that's on my lapell out of cardboard, coloured in with a fat permanent marker then made shiny with some artists' varnish gloss. You can't see but the waistcoat has purple buttons shaped like apples.

Approximate making times
Coat: 40hrs+
Trousers: 5hrs
Waistcoat: 3hrs
Shirt: 3hrs, incl. gingham cuffs. An extra hour for the question marks on the collar I drew on with red fabric paint.
Cat Brooch: 10min, not incl. time for the laquer to dry between each of the 3 coats
Spats: 1hr
Cravat: 30min-1hr

Overall cost: I have no idea. Probably, over the gradual expense, about $300-400 Australian. Not including the time it took my mum to make.
