Okay, wow, beautiful work!!!
The overall composition is pleasing, and it has great depth. I'm going to be breaking this down into smaller components, cuz there is a lot to love.
Fist, the sky in the background is gorgeous. I appreciate the attention of a gradient in the blue, darker towards the top and fading to a lighter color where it meets the mountains. The texture differences in the clouds is appealing, a mixture of cirrus and cumulus clouds; very natural.
Mountains: They are very pretty. I love the three layers and the way the color fades into the backdrop. The kiss of green in the middle mountain range is pretty, and makes it more believable. It may have been nice to see a little more of that in the closest mountain range, but it's not a big deal. The mountain texture is beautiful, you almost feel like you are there. I like your use of highlights and shadows on them to, particularly the mountain closest to the viewer on the left and how the center of the mountain face is lighter than the top and bottom portions.
Next, the pine tree line. Beautiful work, you really payed attention to the light source at the left and the shadows on the right and carried that throughout, very cool. The lake reflection is gorgeous. It's serene, calm, yet the image is distorted enough to let the person know that it is water. The pine trees on the near bank also reflect the lighting trend and have good coloration.
The foliage of the tree closest to us is fantastic. Good color, nice use of highlights, great attention to detail on where the leaves meet the branch, I enjoy the snarled look of the branches too. The grass tuft behind the tree is very nice, it has depth, lots of texture, very believable. The tree trunk's bark is very nice, you can plainly see the high points and the crevices. However the one thing I did notice is that the light source seems flipped here, coming in from the right rather than the left.
There are two areas that I'd like to critique: 1) color choice 2) the short grass in the foreground.
Color Choice: Overall, the color choice is great, it's only until we get into the foreground that the colors in the tree trunk and the character get a little saturated. If you were to make the colors there a little more dusty, and a little cooler, they'd mix better with the rest of the image. You could try laying a color over the top of the character and tree to tamp down the colors a bit (such as an overlay layer, a hard-light layer or something like that. Play with the color and the opacity and see if something works.) Everything else blends really well. I've found this tutorial very helpful when thinking about colors colouring [tips]
Grass: Next to the long grass behind the tree, the grass in the foreground looks a little flat. You have texture everywhere else but there so it stands out. You could simply take a smudge brush and create the grass blades. They don't have to be long, but it would add nicely to the piece. Also, if you had some grass blades overlap the tree roots, it would make the tree more connected to the earth. I've found this tutorial very helpful though I've never used the 'freckles' just the smudges. grass tutorial
overall, this is a very pretty piece, you clearly put a great deal of time and care into your work and it shows.
