Mommy bunnies tend to eat their babies if they're feeling stressed or if they feel their babies are threatened. I had 11 bunnies some years back because one of them had babies and I read up on it..I still think it's bizarre xDMaria McMorbid Β© Me

I have a neutered buck and an unsterilized gradeΒ mare(unfit for breeding with no pedigree), none of them are breeding stock, please, as much as I wish to not be rude, stop acting like a dumbfuck, it's goddamn nature in a rabbit to eat the kits, you should appreciate that if you have/want kids you'd never eat them. As much as I don't want to say this,Β rabbits don't have as high a intelligence as higher thinking animals, neither do dogs, cats, ETC. They all react upon nature, you want proof? Watch a horse with an umbrella near that, that might not freak you out, but an animal mind-trained to flee if they think danger is approaching will surely think the opposite, they honestly can't tell the difference between cougar & umbrella. Which I don't, as stated once and stated again, my two grade animals aren't breeding stock, they're just their to steal treatsΒ from my mumΒ and shove their face into my armpit and claim it's love. Almost every species of rodent does this. They also have troubles with baby pigs eating each other. So they must cut off half an inch from their tails.

I don't care if this is an old comment. It's far from stupid, humans have a generally higher intelligence than most animals, which is why we ourselves would never eat our children out of fear, instinct, ETC. Rabbits on the other hand react upon instinct, ever sneezed near a rabbit? We wouldn't see a sneeze as a big thing but to a rabbit it could be ANYTHING trying to eat them.

yeah, when the mother is feeling threatened, she eats her babies to regain the calories and such lost when she gave birth to them, and then moves to a safer place to have more babies. Although I suppose the chances of you allready knowing that are pretty high.

my guini pig did that onse
she had the cutist litlle babies but on a morning my sister went to feed the animals(she loved the litlle ones so much,even if they where noly a few days old)and she saw that they where so quiet and she putted her hand in to take one of them and when she looked in her hand there only was a litle head,in the corner of the cage there just where some litle hands from the animals left
she cried so much,and she woulden't look at the guinea pig for a whole wile
