This is quite honestly one of my favorite drawings. <3 I really like how Darren and Evra came out--Darren's face and mouth particularly. Just looking at this drawing makes me smile. This probably sounds terribly cheesy, but I'm really glad I was able to convey the friendship between these three.Crepsley looks a little creepy, but... he's a vampire, so that's pretty fitting. :3 I'm looking forward to seeing the Darren Shan movie, though I'm trying not to expect too much. Crepsley's actor is terribly not-handsome, but Evra's is pretty cute, huhu.
I'd like to re-read the Darren Shan books. They should be awful--they are really awful if you look at them with anything like a critical eye--but I enjoyed them quite a lot. I hope that rumored series of books focusing on Crepsley gets published someday!

Well, we have to pick something very close to us and Darren Shan has been a big part of my life :') (I'm starting book 12 this weekend!)
And after a presentation and some other bits and bobs we're making our own cushions with a theme, obviously mine will be Darren Shan :')
So your design could end up on a pillow if my teacher thinks it's a good idea and stuff :3

A lot of my friends thought he had like warts or something (...) but they're scales, they're scales! I kind of took the character designs from the general Japanese fanart Darren Shan designs. I think Evra's "scales" were in general probably inspired by Zelgadis', from slayers. Er, I think his whatever's are like hard scales, too.

xD ROFL! That's funny, because I have a friend who always calls Evra "crusty guy" xDD When I draw fanart of them I just draw how I imagined them myself, but it seems everyone imagines them in some form of anime xDD

Well, I actually got into Darren Shan because of a Japanese fanart I stumbled across--I didn't know anything about the series, so I was pretty shocked to find some Japanese dude was drawing fanart for books that were available at my local library. XD So from the beginning my images of the characters were quite directly influenced by the anime-style.

lol, I totally missed your comment about the movie. I'm hoping Crepsley's actor will manage to catch my heart with his acting or something, 'cause his looks sure haven't... (that sounds really shallow, but it's true) My friend asked me why I was so caught up on the idea that Crepsley should be handsome, and I half jokingly replied that if you're working with a slightly dubious, easily-shoddy-if-it's-done-wrong story you should at least make sure you're good in the looks department. Looking good in the looks department. Uh, you know what I mean (I just woke up, lol). The manga was like that too. Couldn't they have made the art a little nicer...? A teensy tiny bit not sooo ugly? =A=
