Just because I haven't been posting doesn't mean I haven't made progress . Genos is practically finished! All that's left are some minor fitting adjustments.
The armor is primed with Flexbond, wet sanded, painted with metallic acrylic paint, and finished with a satin varnish. One thing that surprised me after painting was how hard it is to to tell the difference between the Thibra, Black Worbla, and plain foam armor pieces. At first I wanted to do programmed LEDs for the palms, but decided I didn't have enough time and went with self-contained lights in plastic balls from the florist section at Joann Fabrics. I frosted the plastic with 3000 grit sandpaper and tinted the LEDs and plastic ball orange with FW ink.
Additionally, I'm very happy with how the proportions turned out on this costume. The hidden shoe heels give me the height and "heroic" proportions that I need, and the height stops the size of the pauldrons from looking ridiculous. I also made accurate chest armor which you can see peeking out of the shirt in a few photos. It really helps balance out the proportions!
After I finish the final adjustments on this costume, I'll switch over to making the gloves and boots for my brother's Saitama costume!
