Description been a while...and this isn't new....just never got around to it.

I guess I'm in a slump? hopefully that will change with some new scenery coming up.

the butterfly is a Morpho peleides or a common blue morpho, although what is common about these butterflies is beyond me, they are breathtakingly gorgeous in flight and near impossible to find sitting still with their wings open. One of the cooler points about this butterfly is that it's not actually blue....if you see it in shade it looks like a boring old brown butterfly, but when sunlight hits the scales on the backside of the wing it looks like this. Also if you're still reading this...then you are either my friend or crazy

Also I never say this but the full view will afford you a much cooler look at the scales on the wing.

This is absolutely incredible - I love butterfly shots detailed enough to see the scales on their wings. This is absolutely incredible.

You've been featured in my tribute to a famous butterfly lover.

I love that you can tell that it's a butterfly and your lovely description tells you it is, but I can see this on the wall somewhere with people walking by and saying "Wow, that's pretty" and not immediately catching what it is.

You know?

The way you've framed it makes it almost abstract. And I LOVE stuff like that.

I love when people have to take a second look to see whats going on, like Four of a Kind, I think only 1 or 2 people I've ever showed that too have gotten right off that bat that they're all you!

Oh, that's so gorgeous hun! *sees advanced critique prefered* Ok *rolls up sleeves*

The colours are beautiful, such a lovely blue with hints of, erm, turquoise, cyan? I'm no good with colour names, lol, i just know i love it

The darker areas in opposite corners works incredily well Especially as the veins start in one corner and end up in the other. It really leads the eye across the picture.

I'm not really sure about how most of it is out of focus. I suppose a wing like that would have a lot of detail in total focus, like on the left, and that would distract away from the colour/eye leadingness. Good choice in that case

thanks darlin...almost no one takes the time for advanced critiquing these days! Perhaps I'll find another morpho willing to sit still long enough next year and I'll try to get more in focus!

Well yes, considering it was a *live* butterfly, the focus is incredible I can't take photos of living things because they move so damn fast . Except people. People are slow

nah...you just gotta be patient...even with people. sometimes it takes me hours to get the right shot, even from a person.
