Description Would you look at that, it's the other side's turn! There's not really enough known about the antagonists and villains in terms of backstory, and that sorta stuff to mitigate discrepancies of what drives their actions/behaviour in my modern au. If the differences between it and what's revealed in canon are small enough, I can tweak the bios so they're more compliant with it. But for the most part, it may depart quite a bit from canon, mostly for Salem's crew. This stuff is especially true since a companion guide for RWBY will be released in (at the moment) 2019. Some parts of the bios are taken from a previous upload.

Tyrian Callows: A man who knows he puts others off/scares them and plays it up like no tomorrow. That being said, he often speaks in flowery, poetic, and theatrical language. His Faunus trait is a scorpion tail that he disguises as a belt in public, only letting it loose among people he fully trusts (and boy, is that list short), or at home. During his more formative years, he found himself in a Faunus trafficking ring, and was promptly taken in by a travelling circus due to arachnid Faunus being rare. He spent a good part of his cruel childhood as part of its line-up of freak show attractions before being saved by Salem, who filled the parental need that he was missing. As a result, he is utterly devoted and loyal to his divine saviour, even worshipping her. His time in the circus took a toll on his mental development, but he has a scarily high level of emotional intelligence and insight, able to read people and see through them with great accuracy (like a dark empath). He may even drop some life advice that is sagely (and/or threatening). He enjoys reading old literature, particularly Shakespeare, and likes theatre plays and musicals. He's constantly seeking Salem's approval like a child, and manages to find entertainment in nearly anything. While his social behaviour is partially a defence mechanism, he does find genuine satisfaction from intimidating and messing with others. A passive hobby he enjoys is observing others and figuring out what makes them tick (I'm quite pleased the V6 commentary commented that he's insightful, which aligns with what I've written here). He usually has an unsettling smile on his face. Despite treating the world as one big stage, when he says something, he means it. Likewise, any actions he takes (both positive or negative) are sincere, making him quite open with his feelings (most of the time). If only he could channel his traits and emotional intelligence towards something other than Salem (utilizing EI can have a dark side, after all). He's her personal assistant, doing whatever she wants him to do. Whether it's tracking down clients or company partners who won't comply/enforcement, information collection, or simply getting her something to drink, you can bet he gets it done efficiently and quickly (while having some fun along the way). He decided to move into a condo unit that's closer to his work.

Salem: The CEO of a large and successful holding company that has multiple subsidiaries, with its main focus being petroleum. A cold woman who can be oddly motherly to her workers at times due to having had children in the past. Unfortunately, both her husband (Ozma) and children died in a car crash decades ago. This left her bitter and spiteful ever since. Her hatred is directed at the world and Ozpin, but not herself despite being part of the reason for the crash, as she had gotten into an argument with Ozma that prevented him from focusing on the road and avoiding Ozpin's car. She has aged extremely well for her age. Rumour has it that it's a result of dark magic, although it's more than likely a result of good skin care products. She likes seeing results, knowing how to manage her company and subordinates so that they can be both efficient and productive. Ozpin and her deceased family are sore spots for her. She knows she has Tyrian wrapped around her finger and uses it to her advantage. His loyalty comes quite in handy for retaining workers and "encouraging" those who are uncommitted to their job to seek employment elsewhere. The best part is that she doesn't even need to ask him to do it.

Arthur Watts: Tyrian's pragmatic coworker and friend. He typically acts as a logical voice of reason. He's head of the R&D department, the company's CFO, and the resident IT expert. He also has several doctorates and is a skilled hacker, specializing in technology. He and Cinder have something akin to a sibling rivalry (but not quite), relishing whenever she gets into trouble. He likes drinking tea and prefers complete silence while he works. He used to work for Atlas before being fired, disgraced, and blacklisted based on unethical practices. Only Salem was willing to hire him.

Hazel Rainart: A coworker who tends to ignore Tyrian. He's a man of few words and over 7 feet tall, making him quite intimidating. He's head of security, but is also an excellent physiotherapist, massage therapist, and chiropractor, even though he never pursued a career or formally practiced in any of those areas. He had a twin sister named Gretchen, who he cherished dearly. He has beef with Ozpin that's connected to her. While he's not an easily angered person, when he does snap, one can only hope that the victim already started running. He's a big guy with big muscles that can crush you like an ant.

Cinder Fall: A beautiful, ambitious, smooth-talking, and charming woman. A skilled manipulator and planner. She's the company's COO and seeks to start her own company, wanting to amass power and influence that can rival or even exceed Salem's. When she wants something, she goes for it. She took Mercury and Emerald in to increase her likability to the public. Tyrian sometimes antagonizes and pokes fun at her. She got caught in an explosion that caused the left half of her body to be badly scarred from burns.

Emerald Sustrai: A girl Cinder saved from being homeless for PR purposes. She's an expert pickpocket from her life on the streets, and feels like she owes Cinder a life debt. Her and Mercury care for each other in their own way. Despite Mercury's comments about her relationship with Cinder, she still believes she cares for her. She has rejected Ruby's numerous offers for friendship, no matter how much a part of her wanted to take it. She's currently trying to save up enough money to attend a university so she can be of more use to Cinder. Of course, she could always try the scholarship route. Her and Mercury are tormented by Tyrian whenever they visit Cinder at her job. He gets on their nerves, to say the least.

Mercury Black: Another troubled youth who had killed his abusive father, Marcus, out of self-defence. The lawyer hired to defend him was provided by Cinder, who took an interest in his case. He's snarky and excellent at break-dancing, also dabbling in martial arts. It's not uncommon to find him with Emerald, being smart alecks towards others and each other. He hates being underestimated, even if it's made clear that he's out of his league. He's protective of Emerald when the chips are down, and she's protective of him. He has an on and off again rivalry with Yang. He wears prosthetic legs, as his old ones were mangled by Marcus.

Neopolitan: A mute with heterochromia. Ever since she met Roman, she has rarely left his side. Despite being short, standing at less than 5 feet tall, she can be ruthless. Her hobbies include yoga and eating ice cream. She doesn't like that Roman works for Cinder. She once had a run-in with Yang in the past, handily beating her after challenging her to an ice cream eating match. Why? Just because she could. She uses her smartphone and sign language to communicate.

Roman Torchwick: A charming conman who works under Cinder's direct command. He's a prominent dealer in the black market, operating in Vale's seedy underbelly. Neo is quite possibly the only person he cares about, fearing that if he ends things with Cinder, she will make both his and Neo's life a living nightmare.

Adam Taurus: A short-tempered and stubborn Faunus with bull horns as his trait. It's a wonder how he can see with that mask. He has a vendetta against the Belladonna family, specifically Blake. He's part of the White Fang, a Faunus activist group that is currently going through a power struggle between its radical and moderate members. Adam is part of the radical side. Unbeknownst to the White Fang's current leader, Sienna Khan, he has made several secret dealings with Cinder. Tyrian doesn't think much of Adam, nor does he care about what the White Fang gets up to as long as it doesn't interfere with Salem's corporation. What's he hiding underneath his mask, you ask? It apparently hides [REDACTED].
