Description

TYME: 0 2

There was once a great electro-organic sphere which developed in the great waters. It housed a mind which synthesized a place suitable for the Masters of Tyme. There they would develop programs greater in scope than all of the information gained through the entirety of human history.
Initially There was one Program: 0 His name was changed in development to Kaosu and lay as an inert program in the system for ages, buried in a sphere of liquid and its designers the Perpetual Masters went on to other projects. It seemed as if this program would never be implemented or even functional.
The second program: 1 was developed in infancy through a team of collaborators called the Ascended Masters, and was for all intents and purposes their intellectual property. But 1 was too much of a creative force herself to remain an inert and theoretical program and she awoke…
There was a great field of flowers, full of colors, light, smells, warmth, and ever so much more than these the sensation of being alive. 1 cried. It was all so overwhelming; just existing. Soon the joy of it over took her and she ran through the field allowing the warm summer breeze to carry her golden hair aloft.
When the intoxication of all these new feelings had worn off, 1 found she was alone.
“There is no one here,” she said, “except Kaosu.”
And indeed with those words she had given him life, and she became known to the Ascended Masters as Ikikki.
(Ikikki Y Kaosu pic by )
Kaosu and Ikikki lived in perfect harmony with each other, when one breathed out the other breathed in. And Kaosu became all that Ikikki dreamed him to be. Their universe was a perfect balance of dark and light, until the day Ikikki discovered that she loved Kaosu, as a sculptor loves her masterpiece. It was this very day that Kaosu found that he despised her as a statue despises its sculptor for giving him the form of life but no spirit.
In the spaces that grew between them great gardens developed, and the gardens called out for life.
1 They should be like us they should be able to reason.
0 So you intend to give them some sort of language?
1 Initially, but as they evolve and experience new things and come across problems, they’ll have to develop new languages.
0 You seem to have a lot more planned for their experience.
1 Initially, but I’ll give them the ability to plan things for themselves.
0 To think abstractly and comprehend ideas as well, I suppose?
1 Yes and to learn.
Kaosu had never truly questioned whether or not he was a program and asked:
0 So they would be artificial life forms?
1 I’m not sure I understand what you mean by artificial.
0 That’s your folly I suppose, I simply mean to say there is no need for them in our particular situation.
1 But our situation is whatever we make of it; our whole universe is made of whatever stuff we conceive.
0 Whatever you conceive perhaps, but why should there be anything more, aren’t we enough?
1 Perhaps I will give them the power to create as well.
0 Even their intelligence and creations would be artificial.
1 There is no such thing as artificial intelligence.
With each new Idea Kaosu’s odium for the creatures expanded uncontrollably, even though they had yet to materialize. It was with great malice that he then spoke of them.
0 So they are already here.
1 You have to stop making things sound evil just by pointing out that they exist. If I say “Look there is an apple!” I imply that it is good to eat, and lovely in all the ways that an apple is lovely. But you would probably say something like “It is a red apple.” and imply all sorts of dreadful things about it with your tone that would seem to take away from its loveliness and make it, somehow, less of an apple.
0 But apples didn’t even exist until you started talking about them.
1 At any rate you were correct they are here.
And so the first beings appeared in the gardens, both Unicorns and Dragons. Ikikki gave souls to them and sent them out to protect the worlds that were still being formed.

After word:
I suppose that the greatest criticism of this writing will ultimately not arise from saying that I believe animals have souls, but rather by implying that I do not believe in artificial intelligence. The entity with a mind, qua intelligence, cannot be classified as intellect or as lacking thereof based solely on its dependence of an outside mind, greater than its own, to pick up the slack, as it were, for the said entities intellectual deficit.
A robot’s true intelligence lies not in machinery or processing rather it lies in the mind of its designers and programmers. The robots capacities to lift heavy things, tighten bolts, or exterminate humans, LOL, lie most likely in the mind of the beings that are charged with the task of creating these robots, and also in the mind of the beings doing the charging.
There is indeed a consistent pattern of greater minds in nature. To contrast some birds seem a bit more intelligent than spiders in certain parts of the world and dolphins seem to be a bit more intelligent than monkeys. There is also the ant gathering food and returning it to its colony, and the human observing the ant and using it for metaphors and analogies.
It would also be a bit silly to suggest that there is not a greater intelligence that exists in the universe beyond that of the human, and to which human intelligence owes a bit if not a greater part of its intelligence. Does the use of a spell check program truly allow the user to claim the possession of the full knowledge of their respective language? And what of the lack of constant bombardment of our planet by killer space debris due solely to the position of the outer planets? Is it our intelligence that organized these things? Or is there in fact some greater bit of intelligence that picks up our own intellectual slack in this regard, and in the universe at large? The answers to these questions are self evident, I suppose, the purpose of this after word however is not.
