This is another one of those pictures that I never thought I'd actually get done. I had a few days at work where I didn't have anything to do, so my boss let me paint whatever I wanted to. I brought in my original sketch from home and then worked pretty solidly on it.The idea came simply from wanting to do a picture featuring a spiral staircase. As drawing one from scratch is a pain, I did a quick mock-up in 3D, then painted over it. As for the concept, it's loosely based on my personification of science fiction and fantasy.
Time: About 24 hours over four days
Tools: Photoshop CS3 & Wacom Intuos Tablet

I love the billow-y-ness of the scarves and such and how well you represented fantasy and sci-fi...the colors are well suited too

And so the worlds eventually met, even though they were both going different directions. And two people who happened to be wandering the path met each other as well.

ah, its kind of a pity you didn't show what the fantasy half looked like, but this is such an amazing concept, and I Think that would have ruined the design somewhat! Total thumbs up!

The perspective here is absolutely amazing. I like how the two sections of the spiral staircase meet and the difference between the parts; yet they form one staircase. Its magnificent! The coloring, the detail, the folds of the drapery....great! I want to say more...but I'm at a lost for words. Heh.
