Yeah, this is something that'll pretty much happen later on in my friend's Pokemon Ninja Trainers story and trust me, Ash is really going to be feeling down over the fact Misty has been turned into a real mermaid and so far there's nothing he or the others, especially Naruto and Sakura, can do in order to get her back to normal. Not only this but I can definitely see it having a huge impact on him later down the line as shown when he visits the Cerulean Gym during the time he decides to challenge the Battle Frontier and before taking on Nolan himself like he does in the actual canon since he know how worried Misty's sisters are over what happened. In fact, an element from the series H20: Just Add Water and its animated series reboot H20: Mermaid Adventures would be incorporated where Misty goes into mermaid form whenever she gets wet and will return to human form once she becomes dry enough, it takes a while for her to be fully dry though. Other than that, there really isn't much to say here but I hope you like how this turned out overall and trust me, we do intend to have Misty truly restored to her normal state later down the line it just takes a while.
