Description Weekly bird speedpainting

This species is dear to me, because I am working with them since 2012 for my research into parrot behaviour and welfare. They are very clever and intriguing, and the birds are all so different from each other! However, Otto in particular is special to me, so I decided to draw him again (like this pencil drawing , both from the same photo reference).

My research can now be funded through crowdfunding! Interested in helping parrots feel at home in their plumage?

Oh, this awesome! I have a soft spot for grey parrots as well. My grandparents used to have a female called Acra and I have many fond memories of her. I really like their inquisitive natures - and you have managed to capture that in your work. Very well done!

RiverRaven In reply to bgerr [2016-06-18 09:23:50 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! Inquisitive is the best word to describe them

That's funny: the grandparents of my best friend also used to have a Grey parrot named Acra! (But I think they wrote it differently)

Now there's a funny coincidence. I checked and she actually was was called Accra, named after Ghana's capital, since that is where she came from.

Oh nice! It could be that those two parrots actually came from the same catch.. Seeing that you also live in the Netherlands, and the generation is about right.
