This is a commission from Wruister!Character is Painted!
Story: Painted is passing through a forest nearby the laboratory where she used to be held as an experiment. As she walks through the forest, she passes a place she never wanted to see again: a deep, old ravine where her lover died. Painted’s eyes focused on one thing in the ravine...the half-broken ledge.
Flashbacks flood into her head, replaying one scene over and over again. She turned to tell her lover that they would both make it out alive, but just as the words left her mouth, she watched as the ledge gave way beneath her Couleur, her lover's, feet and sending her plunging into the rushing waters of the ravine, never to be seen again. Painted had broken her promise, and now lives her life thinking that Couleur would never forgive her.
Hope you like it! This perspective was both hard and fun to draw.

(Just a smol backstory on Painted) Painted used to be an experiment, she was tested on as well as a few other animals. She was taken away from her family when she went adventuring. Painted was tested to see if a certain color was injected into her DNA (where in this situation, that color is pink) that her offspring wouldOnce the experiment had been done on Painted, the scientists had pushed her away. Leaving her to collect dust in a testing tube where all the other failed experiments had gone. She had plotted an escape to get out of the laboratory, hoping to get back with her family. One night, Painted finally got the guts to escape. (Whereas the friends she had made in the laboratory wanted to make her stay) She had broken out of the glass and jumped out of an open window. (The window was open because of all the toxins and smoke in the laboratory) Once she made it out, she saw that someone(or somecat) had gotten free, but was captured by the scientists. Painted had dropped her plan entirely just to save this cat. While trying to save this cat, she was captured in the process. The scientists had both put this mystery cat and Painted together in a testing tube. While this cat and Painted had the time together, Painted had only realized this cat was her long lost friend. Couleur.
(now onto the actual backstory aha)
Painted is revisiting the laboratory at this time. (she had finally escaped the laboratory) Painted had passed a ravine near the laboratory. When passing the ravine, she looked down the ravine to see a ledge that seems to be broken in half. Everything flooded back to her memories. Back when Painted and Couleur were together (they had been together for half a year since the backstory above), they plotted to escape the laboratory once again. When escaping, they had been carried away by a flood that had occur the night before, which they didn't know of. Both cats were carried to the ravine, climbing onto a ledge that they caught on. Painted had promised to Couleur that they would both be safe and make it out alive. Alas, the side of the ledge that Couleur stood on had broken off, being carried away by the rushing river below. At this point, Painted was bawling her eyes out, knowing that her promise to Couleur was broken and that she would never be forgiven. Without Couleur to be by Painted's side, she was nothing.
Thing is, what Painted doesn't know, is that Couleur is her sister, and she is still alive.
fun fact: despite Couleur meaning "color" in French, Couleur is a pure black cat ;w;
