Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Canadair F-86 Sabre Mk. 6 jet fighter 23651/AX651 entered service in 1956 as a standard fighter and was assigned to France to support the NATO defense of Europe against the Soviet bloc. From 1960 to 1964, it flew with the Golden Hawks aerobatic squadron, a predecessor of the modern Snowbirds, and after retirement was donated to the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa. From 1998 to 2022, it was on long-term loan to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, after which it was officially donated to its new home in Hamilton.
