Description This Douglas NF-6A Skyray, a modified Douglas F4D Skyray transonic delta-wing jet fighter, was built in 1955.  It spent most of its career at the U.S. Naval Test Pilots School (NAS Patuxent River, Maryland), and went on display at the nearby Patuxent River Naval Air Museum in 1978.  Like most naval test planes, it is painted with bright orange markings, presumably to make it easier for instructors to see.
