Description
Here was a nice surprise I found at the Lotte supermarket in my neighborhood of Jeonju, Korea: a Tomica model of Hiroshima tram 651! The tram was built by Kinami Sharyō in 1942 as the first Type 650 tram and was damaged in the atomic bombing of 1945/8/6, but was repaired and returned to service after World War 2 ended with the surrender of Japan. Hiroden 651 and some of her sisters are still maintained by the Hiroshima Electric Railway Co Ltd with other historic trams, and often join the modern trams on the city streets. If I can visit Japan in the near future and put Hiroshima on my itinerary, I will look for 651.
