Description Hogwarts Castle, originally GWR 5972 Olton Hall, visited the National Railway Museum at the end of November.Β  When I went there about two weeks ago, it looked ready to leave the museum and return to pulling tourist trains around Britain.

They should have used a bongo instead.Β  The train goes from london to yorkshire, and castles were not let that way.Β

I heard rumors that after returning from the Harry Potter experience she is going to be repainted into GWR green and put back to service again

It was; more recently it's been put on static display at the Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studio Tour in London.

Looks like it's going to be on static display in the studio as Hogwarts Castle for the foreseeable future.

I like British trains I've always wanted to see them. I've heard there are lots of heritage railways there.

There definitely are; last I checked there were close to a hundred railway museums and heritage railways, as well as some locomotives such as Olton Hall/Hogwarts Castle that are allowed to run on the main line. Β Most of these museums/railways are fairly focused (e.g. Didcot Railway Centre is all about the GWR), though the NRM has the widest scope.

Well I'm quite focused on the Great Little Trains of Wales, the Great Central Railway, the Severn Valley Railway, the Bluebell Railway, the West Somerset Railway, South Devon Railway and the Tanfield Railway.

That's a pretty good mix!Β  So far I've yet to visit any of those railways, but I will some day.
