Description Model of a Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley Railroad (L&WV) electric streetcar with "Laurel Line" branding at the Electric City Trolley Museum in Scranton, Pennsylvania.  The L&WV connected Scranton to Wilkes-Barre beginning in 1903, but replaced electric traction with diesel in 1953 and became a Lackawanna (later Erie Lackawanna) subsidiary in 1957.  By the time Conrail took over the EL and other northeastern railroads in 1976, the L&WV was no longer the same Laurel Line that it used to be, but much of the right of way (including the mile-long tunnel) is still in use or easily reusable for a commuter railroad.
