Description During World War II, the U.S. Army's 8th Air Force was stationed in Britain.  Over 26,000 men were killed in action, and seventeen were awarded the Medal of Honor, in the service of the Mighty Eighth.  This stone memorial was dedicated to the 8th Air Force in 1984 and features carvings of some of the airplanes flown by the force during WWII.  From top to bottom, they are:
- Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bomber
- Consolidated B-24 Liberator bomber
- Republic P-47 Thunderbolt fighter
- Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter
- North American P-51 Mustang fighter
The memorial is on display at the Royal Air Force's RAF Hendon museum in London.
