How do you manage such details on a small canvas? That's amazing! Do you use heavy body paint or something of lighter consistency?

To get small details I use a combination of technique and small brushes.
For example, paint a line and if it ends up too thick or thin I amend it using the next layer (my paintings are built layer upon layer). The paints are original (not heavy body) student or artist quality acrylics which I keep wet using a little water or acrylic medium.
Thanks for the kind compliment and I hope this answers your questions.

Thank you so much! I never thought about that technique. Ingenious idea!
My problem with details is no matter how small my brush is, the paint is always a small dollop of ball, bigger than the brush. If I use less paint then the paint doesn't stay on canvas. The problem is worse the smaller the brush is. The tiny little liner is pretty much useless. I read somewhere from a photorealistic acrylic artist that, she stays away from liners and use a long round brush for thin lines. Do you feel the same way too? I already use media to thin my paint down, and my paint is not heavy body either, just student grade.

You're welcome.
Yes, I use small round brushes for thin brush strokes / lines. Have you tried (assuming the paint is not too thick or thin) loading your brush by pulling the brush back in the palette and turning it as you do so? Essentially, doing so pulls excess paint away from the tip and ensures there is an even load all around the brush.

Yes. I wasn't sure so waited until I painted to respond. I grew up doing chinese calligraphy so it's a natural habit for me.
Do you feel like better brushes hold the point better? Speaking of my calligraphy days, the price of the brush definitely makes a big difference on the point.

Yes, definitely. Some brushes are better than others, but I don't think price always reflects that. Some of my favourite brushes are cheap ones (especially because my brush care leaves something to be desired).
