The Duke is still well loved but you could be right, the younger generation probably don't know him or his work so much. Thanks for the comment Brad.

this is one of the worst symbols conveyed by hollywood, but I like your work!

You may think so, but thought by so many people to be one of the greatest. Alas, we're all different. Out of curiosity, what makes you think it's one of the worst? Thanks for your comment

Don't missunderstand me !
I think that John Wayne as an actor and as symbol of the "western" movies was effectively one of the greatest, and I loved very much his movies (Alamo was the one I prefered).
But in a certain way, he was also the symbol of the supremacy of the white race against the "savages" indians who are, for me anyway, the only real Americans.
And making movies with such heroes like John Wayne is another way of trivializing Native American genocide that took place.
And even though I'm not alone in thinking so, this does not detract from the fact that John Wayne was a great actor and your work a very good work !

Thanks for the add! And thanks so much for asking! It was great! Everyone had fun. There were 15 kids and 13 adults. We played "stick the wings on the fairy". She wanted a Tinkerbell style party. I found this GIANT coloring book full of Tinkerbell stuff. I found a picture that showed the back of the wings. All of the kids got to color on it, the I put clear contact paper on it and the wings I made to match it. The kids each got a turn being spun around and doing their best to stick the wings on the fairy. lol. We had Angel food cake with cream whip and strawberries (at my daughter's request). Lots of fun all around. Thanks so much for asking!

Yeah, it was fun. Parties usually are. We might be having a pool party for my son next month. It should be warm enough to enjoy it.

The pool party sounds fantastic. Hope you have great weather for it on the day. We had a reasonably nice day today in Scotland. The sun was out periodically...quite uncommon for us

Thanks. Oh you live in Scotland! I love your accent. I'm sure you hear that all the time, but really, it's so pretty. Ear candy. I just hope it's warm out. If it rains, it'll be warm rain plus the plan is to be getting wet anyway. We have lots of fun water toys and floaties. If it's terrible weather, my birthday is in August , we'll try it again then. I'll be 28!

Yes I live in Bonnie Scotland . There is a fair amount of love for a Scot's accent and it's nice to have such a wonderful compliment, thank you.

I agree, a little rain can't spoil your family fun . Is your son excited about his party?

You'll be 28? You're a young lady then, I'm 32...but don't tell anyone

TheLadyCurious In reply to RMOriginalArt [2012-06-15 08:32:16 +0000 UTC]

My pleasure. I used to chat with people on Skype all the time. It was great because I'd "meet" people who live all around the world and get to enjoy their accents as well. Egypt, Hungary, Scotland, Australia, those were the ones I loved the most. So far. I went a cruise with my mom about four years ago. It was marvelous because it was so international. People from all over the world, including the crew, all on the same ship. Dinner was always fun because you could choose to sit at a table with strangers. I loved that. Have you ever been on a cruise before?

Oh yes, we just got done celebrating our daughter's birthday. That's his cue to start counting down the days to his party. They're about 6 weeks apart from each other. Everyday he tells me how many days left until his party. We include this in his curriculum (as we home school). So, his journal questions have been things like, "Where do you want your party? Who do you want to invite? What do you want to do at your party?" and so on and so forth. It really helps giving him something he's excited about to write about for school.

Young indeed. My husband will be 30 in September. Mwahahaha!

I'll be sure to keep your secret safe.

I would like to go on a cruise. I haven't been on one yet but plan to eventually

It's good that you have made things fun for him, I think thats is a good way to educate generally. My eldest daughter has her birthday in November. She has started planning her party already. She's compiled a list of who she wants to invite. I asked if she could wait a little longer before inviting her friends as 5 months is a fair bit away

Your husband is not 30 yet....you are both young then

Oh going on a cruise is the best! Waking up to a different ocean view every morning. No traffic, lots of fun entertainment that's already been paid for. I loved it there. If I ever plan a vacation, it will be to go on a cruise.

My oldest is the same way! She started planning her party back in January!

Not yet, but it's creepin' up on him. lol.
