I really like the atmosphere in this piece. It gives the idea that she's training in the middle of the night in a dismissed gym, and I enjoy the feeble light a lot. It's warm and it gives shape and consistence to everything in the picture, and the shadows are soft but definite, so great job on the colouring and lightning!

I also like her expression and the dynamic pose, and the feeling of movement and strenght it gives. The only thing that lack a bit in it is the sand coming out from the sack, it would have been a lot more impactful if you pictured it spaying in a more dynamic fashion, even if a bit exaggerated, since you're working with a comic style.
About the anatomy, the thing that looks off to me is mainly her arms, wich are small in comparison to the rest of the body. The fists included. It looks particular strange in this piece because her arms are one of the main focus, because she's boxing. But I'm sure it's a thing you'll be able to fix easily in your next drawings.

Overall, great work! I almost feel like going boxing now

Thank you. I'm glad that you enjoy the lighting and shading. I could see what you mean that the sand could be a bit more dynamic. As for anatomy, I'll get it down. It's a bit tough to fully comprehend, but I'll learn with time on proportions. Thank you for the advice and commenting on my piece.

Hello! I come here from ProjectComment

I'm quite impressed by this piece, a lot of artists leave their coloring very sketchy and unfinished looking, but you have a very solid look to your coloring technique and the shading looks really good! The way you added varying shades on the ground and throughout the picture is great. Quite impressive. I also really like the colors that you've chosen - they work really well together.

This picture really tells a story that comes through clearly. I admit that I don't know the character or the series, but you can really read a lot into this image. She seems really determined, committed and striving to be the best she can be. She seems to be a strong character, both in physical strength and emotional - it takes a lot of mental and emotional preparation for her determination, from what I can see.

A few points to help you improve: I would work on your anatomy a little bit. Right now she looks a bit disproportionate and her pose/movement feels a little stiff. Proportions are hard to get right, but with practice you'll have it down in no time. An example of anatomy to work on that I see a lot of people do is make the shoulders really slender, while in reality the shoulder width should be about 3 times the width of the head. Here is a helpful link to a blog discussing one technique to help proportions: Link . For the posing it might also help to look at a photo of someone in that position to see how the muscles move naturally.

Looking at a photo will also help with the depth perception in your work a little bit. You can tell that certain objects are in the background versus the foreground. But with the character it looks like she's a little flat. Her one leg should be behind and a little smaller than the other leg that is in the foreground.

But you've got some great talent and I hope this was helpful. Keep working!

Thank you. Glad that you are impressed with the composition. Shading and coloring seem to be my strength in art. Javaila was a background character in the show El Tigre. I took an interest in her and gave her a little background. She's sweet, and will do whatever it takes to protect her sisters and friends. As for anatomy, that's my main weakness and my area of focus. I'm still understanding about how certain areas of the body match up such as how the wrist lines up with the crotch. With time, I'll understand. Thanks for the helpful comment and glad you like it

I'm glad I could be of help. If you keep practicing you'll go really far, I'm sure of it. And I think it's wonderful that you've taken the time work out a more detailed background for her. That takes some great devotion and creativity.

This is an really interesting and detailed piece, i can see you greatly understand lighting and shadows. Things you can do to improve are  work on proportions  and perspective and maybe work on how to draw different texture elements such as sand.

Thank you. I can see what you mean on proportions and texture, though not too much on perspective.

So the perspective of room looks okay, except maybe the ring in the back kind looks stuffed into a small room, i would have maybe moved that a bit forward or made the room longer but the main problem is the floor, kind of looks to steep.

actually looking at it now it's the line in the bottom right that makes it look like that, my bad, your perspective is actually okay, it's just proportions.

Okay. Thanks for making that clear, but now it's time for me to work harder on proportions and human figures. I've been reading up on it, so I'll be ready with practice. Thanks again

The room/setting is one of the things that caught my eye when it came to this drawing and I have to say it's really well developed, especially the lighting and the girl's shadow too. Very impressive work overall!

Sandra Equihua? The co-creator of 'El Tigre'?

That's right! She created the female characters of the show. I loved watching El Tigre and the popular girls were oddly enough my favorite characters. So, I just give them a little more spotlight and credit Sandra Equihua. She's so great!
