Always thought the idea that an advanced intelligence could create a device that could compress gas giants into stars to terraform distant icy worlds however improbable was pure genius. Great work! This whole project was an cool & original, hats off to you two...

and in the movie, it looks like Pac-Man gobbling Jupiter.

And to think PacMan didn't even get a credit on the film?!?!

Also in the movie, the aerobraking sequence looked like someone coated the heatshield with rubber cement, then lit it on fire. Which is exactly what they did. The movie really doesn't get high marks for anything. Try the book.

Agreed! As it should be. The monoliths - their purpose and product - leave mere humans feeling rather helpless.

If Clarke was writing today would Bowman have said, "My God, It's full of Higgs Bosons?"

C'mon. Futurama? You must be a watcher?

I've watched Futurama six times and every time I catch the same episode!Β  It's spooky weird.Β  I've watched Southpark about ten times and only seen three episodes.
I know a guy named Jigger Jumonville.Β  He's an engineer and invented the Jigger Valve (really), which had to be redesigned...Β  rekajiggered.Β

LOL! Yeah, I've got a few shows like that where I keep hitting the same ep. Or as with "Cowboy Bebop", the first ep. I caught was the last! ACK!
