btw this is a scan(i always take photos of my drawings) so
i think it might have made the highlight on her cheek a tiny bit too white. oh well
PS. the best hair i've ever done!

11x14 strathmore bristol vellum
staedtler mars lumograph HB, 2B, 3B, 4B, 5B
mechanical pencil
kneadable, eraser pencils
paper towel, q-tips, tortillion
EDIT: i have used a white gel pen on the refections in her eyes and on the lips, but i am too lazy to re-scan. you will just have to use your imaginations lol

Great job, the depth and eyebrows seem a lil of/odd maybe, but that doesn't mean it ain't stunning. The details in the skin are fabulous. I think her eyebrows miss a lil depth when I look closer but, i'm just a beginner. So I shouldn't really try to give feedback

i keep meaning to make a hair tutorial but i never do lol. i really should, it would be so much easier to answer questions haha
i basically just build it up, it takes quite a long time but i find it pays off to be patient. i outline the general shape of the hair all over and then put a layer of 2B down. for darker hair i might put a couple layers down. i blend it all in with tissue or a paper towel. i then take a kneadable eraser and mark out where the shine or highlights on the hair are. then i keep adding pencil to the darkest parts of the hair, working my way up the leads as i go. i think with this one i probably went up to a 7B or something since her hair is black. i continue to blend everything as i go so you will have to keep marking out the shiny part and highlights continually. by now you should start drawing some form in to the hair by adding strands. if you continue this process you should start to understand what i am talking about lol. i keep going until i'm happy with it and to finish off i add the super fine strands in with a mechanical pencil and a sharpened eraser pencil. i use a tombow mono zero eraser and it's amazing, worth looking into
