He was actually in the sarlacc for about 3-6 weeks (I don't know the exact number). He was then rescued by Dengar after he blows up the sarlacc from the inside.

Β Some people hate the fan service that Boba Fett received in EU, but Boba Fett is supposed to be a badass, so an oversized leech like the Pit of Carkoon not being enough to kill him just seems...right.
Β Plus, he has one of the coolest, most unique starship designs in any universe.

Yeah, he managed to tunnel out and, upon discovering the Slave 1 had been compounded he purchased a new ship which he named the Slave 2. He used this ship until the Slave 1 could be retrieved. After escaping the sarlacc he did actually go after Han Solo for revenge, it became his main task.

When I read his escape in the books, I expected a more damaged body: his skin was all black and charred, His armor beginning to melt, the stomach acid was eating into his neck, so his spinal cord could be seen. Yours looks way more realistic. Props to realism.

I think George Lucas wanted to add a scene of Boba escaping the Sarlacc, but for some reason it wasn't added.

if you read all the versions, he actually escaped twice. The first time, it spat him out, Jawas found him and for some reason thought he was a droid. he was put in their landcrawler thing and ended up helping Han solo get something from the land crawler because he'd lost his memory which only returned when Han was about to help him out. The land crawler crashed back into the sarlacc pit. That was in the comics right after the 6th film and then of course later on, boba escaped properly.

This is great. I like how you let us catch glimpses of his face through his damaged helmet. But he emerges 30 years after the events in "Return of the Jedi?" Now that's a truly novel idea. Β

yeah he probably uses one of his special gizmos (none that I know of) to get himself out of the Sarlacc

Flippin sweet!!!!!!
I was so obsessed with the character when I was younger I did read Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, and it is a gratifying feeling seeing something illustrated that had stuck with me for quite some time, years even. It was really engaging to read as a kid a different side to Boba Fett and learn not only did he escape, not only did he kill Jodo Kast, but also...he finally 'got' Han Solo.
This is a great picture and I am glad to add it to my favorites collection *tips hat*

Thanks Dusty. He is a great character - and I always liked the idea of Jodo Kast as a 'wannabe' too - it gave Fett's character even more depth and believability that there would be someone trying to trade off his name. Β
If you are a Fett fan - check my journal entry as I've included a link to Joe Johnston's Youtube page where you can see his video of him drawing Boba. It's something very special as he's the guy who created the final look of Boba Fett originally!

Interestingly enough, there is a book mini-series about Boba Fett and it centers around the idea that he did crawl out of the Sarlacc pit. I've got a paperback copy at home somewhere but I can't for the life of me remember what the series is titled or who wrote it.
Β
Great drawing though!

Yep - in fact there's been a lot of interpretations of how Fett got out of the Sarlacc Pit. It seems like he's always been seen as too good a character to kill off that easily!

icenectar In reply to Robert-Shane [2013-10-20 20:13:05 +0000 UTC]
^^ Plus I'm sure a lot of fans were ticked off on how he got "killed off" so easily. After all, he was a formidable opponent.

It's mandalorian iron, specially forged through a secret process that renders it nearly blaster proof andΒ resistantΒ to just about everything else, even glancing blows from lightsabers. Not saying it'sΒ invincibleΒ but it's a defense to be respected. Sarlacc acid wont do much to it.
