Description During the last month I've rarely had time to draw, because I've always been away from home (I'm in holiday after all), so this colored version of my old SL65 AMG drawing is the only "good" art I've managed to do.
I printed a copy of the original drawing, since I never want to directly edit an old drawing.

I wanted to give myself another try at coloring, this time with colored pencils (instead of markers like I did the last time). I realized that there a lot of ways to combine the colors together, I had fun while experimenting (this was just practice test after all, that's why I used an old drawing) and I think I will use them again.
However, the result is not very sharp and there are a lot of those tiny white spots which I hate... But maybe this is because I didn't use quality pencils or even paper.

Anyway, I hope you like this!
If you have any suggestion on how to improve the way I colored this, please tell me! I want to learn more

A4-size printing paper | "Giotto" colored pencils + 2B graphite pencil (only coloring) | Time: about 2 hour (only coloring)

This is a "try" at coloring? It's brilliant. Certainly better than I can do.

Thank you! (and thanks for the fav too!)
Yeah, this was mostly a "try", but of course I tried my best to make it look good, and I think the results were quite positive (even if not as good as I expected T_T)

Thanks! No, I've never tried in a "serious" way... The most "advanced" program I've ever used to do digital drawings is MS Paint... XD

Nice work dude, great drawing of a nice ride^^ Colorpencils are a little challenging when starting with them; We have to discover "how they have to be used", but we usually find that out fairly quick

One question: Do you use cheap color pencils or good ones? It makes a big difference, just like paper. I see you use printing paper, I can't recommend that...I rather advice smooth surfaced paper and thicker paper, more heavy weight. Printer paper is about 80 gsm (I think?), as drawing paper I use 220 gsm, and is smooth surfaced

Yeah man I totally agree with your advices, in fact this drawing was not meant to be "serious": I used cheap color pencils (the only one I have ) and cheap print paper (simply because the car itself was a print of the drawing I made months ago)
My best drawings are all made on A4 220gsm smooth, and the most recent one (the 288 GTO) is made on a 200gsm smooth.
I actually have no idea what are the differences between the various kind of papers, I read around the internet that smooth 200-220gsm is overall the most used kind of paper for pencil drawings, but I don't really know why xD

Ah okay, isn't there any shop to order better ones? Well I had to order mine online aswell, I bought them from a huge art-dealer which offers a lot of stuff online. It's Dutch though so not sure if you can order there aswell=/

Anyways, good to see you're known with the paper kinds, and that you use it for your other works aswell

I can somewhat give you an answer to that, but you might consider it as a personal opinion aswell because I switched of paperkinds because of my own experiences; For me the biggest reason was that I needed smooth surface paper. Usually thin paper like printer paper is ...to thin to add another coat layer of smoothness. So that automatically gets thicker en heavier if a smooth coat layer is added.

Also, thick (coated) paper is better "protected" against holes.

When I used to draw on printer paper and added 2 layers of graphite for example, the 3rd layer caused a hole in my sheet. Which...looks ugly XD With thick paper you can add more layers without worrying to much of getting holes. Well you get them, but not so easy as on printer paper

Thank you for all these advices!! I'll see if I can buy some better tools soon.
However I will soon start attending an Illustrator school, so maybe there I will learn more and more things about drawing ( maybe not much about realistic drawings, but "drawing" doesn't only mean realistic )
