Description After planning for so long, and finding the right opportunity to draw him, here he is:  Eddie Bloomberg, AKA Kid Devil!!!

Eddie Bloomberg was originally a gofer for his aunt Marla Bloom, a Hollywood movie producer, when he met the superhero, Blue Devil.  He began dreaming about being Blue Devil's sidekick.  Determined to become a hero, Eddie made a suit with the same schematics as Blue Devil's and became Kid Devil, the demonic hero's sidekick.  When his aunt died in a car crash one night, it deeply affected him.  Yet he didn't know that he would be more affected than he thought...

As a teenager, Eddie befriended Zachary Zatara, Zatanna's cousin, and, after receiving a demon stick from a cloaked figure, asked the young magician about it.  Zachary told Eddie that if he lit it, he could talk with whoever created it.  The creator of this demon stick was a devil named Neron, who appeared as a hologram to Eddie, once Zachary used an revelation spell on it.  However it was a pre-recorded illusion cast on each demon stick.  After setting the stick on fire, lighting it up, Eddie was separated from his friend, sent straight to the deepest pits of Hell.  There, he saw Neron's rotting corpse bound in chains and lying on the ground.  Yet as the boy looked up, Eddie came face to face with a far more terrifying demon: Trigon the Terrible.  It turned out that Trigon had usurped Neron and killed him so as to prepare himself for his return to conquer the entire universe.  Afraid, Eddie first tried to run away, screaming at the top of his lungs, and then he made an unwise move and called Trigon a monster and an abomination.  Angered by the boy's defiance, Trigon transformed Eddie into a demon before sending him back to Earth.  When he woke up, seeing himself in his new form, Eddie was horrified and ashamed of what he'd become.

However, his new demonic presence drew the attention of another magician: Raven.  As Trigon's own daughter, she immediately could tell that all this was her father's doing.  She offered Eddie a chance to redeem himself and make good of his newfound powers to stop Trigon once and for all.  Eddie, hoping to still become a hero, accepted, and is now a member of the Teen Titans!

For Eddie's backstory as to how he was transformed, I wasn't going to have Neron transform him, for the sole reason that he is such a wimp and a wus.  Trigon on the other hand is so much more powerful, and I felt that having Eddie transformed against his own free will would be a lot more fun to play with since he's hoping to redeem himself and show that not all demons are bad.  At Titans Academy, he's the best friend of Blue Beetle, Ravager, Nightrider and Jai West, Impulse's brother.  He's also Raven's mentee so that he can control his newfound abilities.

Disclaimer:  Kid Devil belongs to DC Comics, Alan Kupperberg, Dan Mishkin & Gary Cohn.

An interesting idea, tying Kid Devil to Trigon. I do feel like Eddie is an underappreciated Titan.

I’m glad you like the idea! I figured that Neron was a weak ass demon compared to Trigon, so I decided to have the latter kill him in a bid to seize power, and regain strength needed for his return.

I heard Dan DiDio dislikes Kid Devil, which was why the character stayed dead and why he was brought back for Heroes in Crisis as another casualty.

See, this is why Dan DiDio ruined DC Comics for a long time until recently. He just was out of touch with the fandom, and I’m pretty sure a lot of people hate him for all the casualties he is responsible for. But hey! At least he’s gone from the company now.

Though the damage may already be done. I honestly don't care about the comic universe anymore, thanks to Heroes in Crisis.

There is always hope, and Jim Lee is a man who understands the fandom. I have high hopes for the comics now that he’s sole publisher.

For me, the only way to save things is to reboot the universe again and erase Heroes in Crisis from canon.

Well, that’s your opinion. I personally would like to see how things play out. Though, as you find out the reason why I haven’t responded to your comments all the time: I’m trying to sleep.

(I'm sorry... I'm a kid devil fangirl >//<)

breathing- let the fan ideas commence

I do totally love that idea its awesome!! (screw Neron!!)

I wish to tell you the idea I had (to incorporate him into the CN TT (2003) series

the titans first encounter with him would be at comicon where his aunt and blue devil are promoting their new film (obviously he's just human at this stage but its a first sneaky encounter )
then the whole aunt dying and blue devil dying... (the first time) ... and the candle and zatana and hell and Neron and zatana NOT able to get them out (plot change happening)
but zatana knows a demon who can get them out of hell (one his cousin wouldn't let join the justice league) drum roll it's raven, whom, as killer of trigon, is technically ruler over 11 (I think she said) dimensions of hell.... and gets the boys back home. and is just flabbergasted at what eddie did but decides to baby sit him.

then- plot twist- when that guy Sebastian returns and takes eddies powers eddie then begs raven to write him a contract and make him kid devil again...

"in exchange for the listed demonic powers and abilities the signee (Edward Bloomberg) will serve the half demon Raven until either the signee (Edward Bloomberg) or the half demon Raven perishes.
upon the time of death - if the signee (Edward Bloomberg) is deemed to have lead a life devoted to helping others then he shall be stripped of all demonic impurities and soul grated access to the higher plain."

(cause lets face it, the most she would even command him to do would be leave her alone.)

Aww, I’m glad to hear it!! Sorry I didn’t respond soon enough, I’ve been busy with work and Japanese that I couldn’t find time to reply.

I love the idea by the way. It sounds like it could be one of the funnier episodes. Still, I do wish that the Teen Titans cartoon did have a season 6.

Well, we’ll see. DC may not be so great when it comes to live action media, but their animation is phenomenal! They have even made progress with a Justice League manga available in Japan, for now at least. Though if they made a Teen Titans anime, it would be so awesome!!

I know, right? It would be a definite hit!! I’ve already got a few pages for one I’m making myself ready, and even in Japanese as well! My roster for the first incarnation follows the Marv Wolfman/George Pérez version of the Titans: Robin (Dick Grayson), Wonder Girl (Donna Troy), Kid Flash (Wally West), Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy and Raven. The roster will grow though to include Terra, Speedy/Arsenal, Jericho, Kole and even Supergirl!

The Trigon related origin really does make more sense, considering his appearance. The wings are a nice addition as well.

Thanks!!  I wanted to go with Trigon transforming Kid Devil rather than Neron, because Neron was such a weakling, and he's just not all that interesting, but Trigon presents a much bigger challenge.  I was also inspired by some of the supernatural themed anime that I watch like Hellsing, Black Blood Brothers, Mushi and Devilman.  I added the wings since he had them in the comics, but they weren't really all that visible.  Plus, I didn't like how Geoff Johns made it so that Kid Devil's transformation had to be so dark and dreary, like many of us do.  Anyway, I've already said that he's Nightrider's roommate, and maybe it's possible to pair him up with Secret, since they're both no longer human, even though it'd be incredibly hard for them to hug or kiss.

He and Greta could work, though in the comics, it seemed like she was aromantic (not interested in being romantically involved with anyone).

There is a character who could work well with Eddie, and since her backstory in the comics is vague, it could be worked to fit your continuity. That character is Carla Moretti/Cinder. The only backstory she has, is that she's Italian (like Toni), and that her brothers were killed by a landmine. Her powers are fire based powers, and how she got them was never explained. The reason she could work with Eddie, is that her backstory could involve Trigon. She could have been interested in magic when she was younger, so when her brothers are severely injured (not killed) by the landmine, she uses what magic she know to try an help them, but ends up drawing the attention of Trigon. He could promise to save them, and when she accepts his help, he does what he says he'll do, but curses her in the process. That could explain how she gets her powers. Trigon could then tell her that if she wants to lift the curse, she has to pay his price, and that his price, is for her to go and kill the Titans. If she did try to carry out his will (attacking the Titans), Eddie could be the one who confronts her and tries to reason with her (telling her the truth about Trigon). Raven could even back him up (telling Carla that her father always lies, and that he won't lift the curse no matter what she does).

As for her powers, since they're fire based, Carla wouldn't be able to wear clothes, and since they'd be a curse, she wouldn't be able to turn them off (in the comics, her body would glow a pinkish-red when she used her powers, and she'd essentially be naked when using them, just like Kiran, Amy, and Audrey). Another part of the curse could be that since the fire she controls is essentially hellfire, she can't be in contact with other people for more then a few seconds (being unable to hold your loved ones, or anyone else is something that Trigon would certainly use as a curse). The up sides on the other hand, are that she can fly, and since Eddie was cursed by Trigon, he'd be immune to her powers. Eddie helping her to see reason, and becoming her friend, coupled with the fact that she can actually touch him without harming him could make them a good possible couple.

Ooh!  That would definitely work out!  I'll definitely add her to the Titans Academy roster!  Since she was a villain initially in the comics, the whole deal with her attacking the Titans at first could work out.  I could also see her getting along well with Argent, and even as well as Prysm, Bombshell and Solstice.  And she could also be friends with Osiris, since they were both on Deathstroke's Titans for a while before she was killed.  I can definitely see her and Eddie even becoming a couple.  Maybe she could further learn how to control her powers from Fire, since they both have similar abilities, even though Beatriz can extinguish herself at will.  Heh, maybe even Hot Spot could teach her a thing or two!

Yeah, she will definitely fit in among the students at Titans Academy!  Eddie would definitely be immune to her powers, and them falling in love would be perfect!  Besides, Secret had kind of a one-sided thing for Robin (Tim Drake), as she was jealous when Secret showed up in one issue of the Young Justice comic.  Though given the fact that Nightstar is deathly afraid of death and ghosts, she'd be pretty terrified.  (Although she's not afraid of vampires since she's spent a lot of time in the Batcave, and even read Bram Stoker's Dracula.)  Still, I think that even Supergirl as well as Connor and Jonny Kent would get along with her just fine, since Kryptonians are pretty much invulnerable.

I'm sure there would certainly be some exceptions to the whole 'can't touch anyone' curse. Kryptonians would be resistant (not totally immune) to it, as would Holly and Dawn Granger (since they're magical, and about as resistant to harm as Supergirl). Kiran, Amy, and Audrey would certainly be able to come in contact with Carla (since heat absorption and dispersal is something they all can do), and Freddy, Grant, Grace, Isaiah, and Leonid would be ok (since their powers would protect them too).

Robin250 In reply to 1987man [2017-01-17 01:57:10 +0000 UTC]

Heh, I'm pretty sure that Nightstar and Starfire would also be immune to it, due to their alien physiology and the fact that radiation can't harm them. And Nightwing and Robin both have fire resistant costumes, so they should be fine too, as long as they have their costumes on. I'm sure that the GLs, Kyle and Sora can make constructs to protect themselves from Carla's powers too. Everyone else? Not so much, save Raven. I can imagine that M'gann will probably be scared beyond belief, since fire is the weakness of all Martians.

1987man In reply to Robin250 [2017-01-17 02:35:40 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Carla and M'gann probably wouldn't be the best of friends (given how secretly terrified she would be of Carla). One other person who wouldn't be affected by Carla's powers would be Jennifer/Jade, since she has Magical driven GL powers.

As a side note; given all that she'd be going through, I'm sure Carla wouldn't really have a problem with the whole nudity issue that would come with her powers (unlike Kiran who was initially embarrassed). The whole 'cursed by a demon' thing, and the guilt she would no doubtingly feel after being manipulated into attacking the Titans, as well as the 'hurting most people she touches' with her powers would be much more prominent issues for her.

Robin250 In reply to 1987man [2017-01-17 03:14:52 +0000 UTC]

Well they could still try to get along, Carla and M'gann.  They'd just need to keep some distance with each other.  I may also have Carla's hair, eyes and inside of her mouth remain the same like when she was still human, like with Solstice, Prysm and Bombshell.

Also, given the fact that in the comics, she served in the Italian army, maybe we could have her attend a boot camp or military academy.  Also, given her consorting with demons and delving into magic, there's no doubt she'd be excommunicated by the Catholic Church.  How old should we make her when her brothers are seriously injured?  I'm thinking that she'd be 15 at least.

15 or 16 should be good for when she gets cursed. Since she would be too young to join the army, she could have a great interest in military tactics and battle strategy (it would certainly be something she and Amy could bond over). As for her hair, it could certainly stay its natural color (when she flies, it could leave a fire trail behind her, like Kori's hair does).

Robin250 In reply to 1987man [2017-01-17 04:20:01 +0000 UTC]

Alright, sounds good!  Thanks!!  I'm thinking we could go with her having the interest in military tactics and strategy, and that combined with her heritage may cause her to look up to the Roman army, since in Carla's eyes, that was Italy's Golden Age of power and expansion.  Mind you, since her family is from Tuscany, she would also have a huge fondness of Renaissance art and literature, since her parents would have given her a proper education before she was cursed, so she'd be familiar with Dante, Machiavelli as well as admire the works of Michelangelo and of Leonardo Da Vinci.  Carla and Amy could definitely bond over talking about army stuff.

Interesting side note: I found out that Carla's surname, Moretti, actually means "dark haired worker", after a combination of Italian and Yiddish.  In short, that means some of Carla's ancestors were Jewish.  Plus there was also the Partisan movement in Italy during WWII, against the Facist regime.  So it's possible that for Carla, "screw the Nazis" is a family creed.
