Description "For Tamaran!!"

Known by his Tamaranean name of Myand'r, Brightfire Tykayl was the second of his name to reign as King of all Tamaran.  Known far and wide as "Brightfire the Beloved", his has been a reign of mightiest glories as well as tragic losses.  Yet even so, Tamaran has not had a better king before or since.  Yet it was never intended to be that way.

As the third and youngest son of King Korithus, prince Mythus was never meant to rule Tamaran, and was often sidelined by his father in favor of his older brothers, Korthus and Scrithus, but no sooner did the Gordanians and the Citadel's forces invade Tamaran, that Korithus and his two eldest sons returned home lifeless.  The king and his two eldest sons were dead, in spite of the fact that Tamaran had won a glorious victory.  And suddenly, Mythus now found himself as the new king.  With his two elder brothers dead, and having no other rivals to lay a claim to the throne, Mythus went over to Korithus' corpse, and picked up his father's ring.  He had inherited all of Tamaran, and the war against the Citadel.  However, unlike his brothers and father, he had also been educated both on Okaara and on New Genesis, and learned what it meant to be a proper warrior and a monarch.

During the funeral for his father and brothers, Mythus was in the midst of a speech when he locked eyes with the beautiful and violet haired Skyfire: daughter of one of the most powerful noble families of Tamaran.  In that instant, the two fell in love, so much so that Mythus got the unanimous approval from his council of nobles that he could marry her.  And so, with Skyfire at his side, Mythus was crowned King Brightfire II of Tamaran!

So, for Brightfire's attire, we actually get to see more Tamaranean royal regalia.  In his hand, the king wields one of the planet's most sacred treasures: the Sword of Tyran'r, which was forged in the very likeness of the signature construct of the first Tamaranean King and Green Lantern who freed much of the Vega System from the Kryptonian Empire.  The ring on his right finger is an exact replica of Tyran'r's own power ring, fashioned from jade, rather than the green element.  Yes, among Tamaran's natural minerals are jade, as well as emeralds, which is what allows the Tamaraneans to have an abundance of green jewelry.  The crown adorning Brightfire's head and face is based on the same one Tyran'r wore when he united all Tamaran.  The tassets on his thighs are both based on how he appeared in the tie in comics to the OG Teen Titans series, as well as 17th century plate armor.  The sceptre in his hands is, ironically, based on the one he is depicted holding in "I am not Starfire".  However, his facial hair is a mix between the OG Teen Titans tie in comic, and The New Teen Titans.

As king, Brightfire proved a capable leader and administrator, but he also has a passion for the arts, proving himself to also be a poet and philosopher as well as a warrior.  It was during the very first year of his reign that Tamaran's old enemy, Krypton, was destroyed when the Coluan mad scientist, Brainiac, destabilized the planet's core.  In response, Brightfire redirected the efforts of the Circle towards stopping the likes of Brainiac, the Citadel, and even Darkseid.  At home, however, he proved to be just a devoted parent.  He is the father of Blackfire, Starfire, and Wildfire.  As the eldest daughter, Blackfire was meant to be second in line for the throne, had a priestess of X'hal not foretold a prophecy that Tamaran would burn under her reign.  Fearing this, Brightfire was pained and forced to make a decision he was not in favor of: he disinherited Blackfire, and instead recognized Starfire and Wildfire as his rightful heirs, while Blackfire was destined for the priesthood, where she could be safe and away from the halls of power and intrigue.  After a failed Gordanian invasion of Tamaran, Brightfire had his son sent away towards the farthest reaches of the galaxy, while Blackfire and Starfire were sent to train under the Warlords of Okaara.  Yet the decision to disinherit Blackfire came back to haunt him in the end.

Starfire and Blackfire did return to Tamaran.  Blackfire being expelled by the Warlords of Okaara for her over-aggressiveness and lack of sympathy, but Starfire came only to stay briefly, as she was volunteering to aid the Green Lantern Corps in stopping the threat of the Anti-Monitor from destroying the universe.  Upon her return, Brightfire discovered to his rage that Blackfire had made a secret treaty with the Gordanians: that Starfire was to be sold to the Citadel as a slave in exchange for peace.  Outraged and heartbroken by this betrayal, Brightfire forced Blackfire into exile, never to return to Tamaran again.  Such an act nearly caused the king to lose the will to live altogether with his children scattered across the universe.  Thankfully, that feeling was short-lived.  Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern who Starfire befriended, arrived on Tamaran one day with news: Starfire was alive and well on Earth, and was now one of the founding members of a new team of adolescent superheroes: the Teen Titans.

As soon as the news reached Tamaran, the King and Queen rejoiced that their daughter was alive and well, and not in the hands of the Citadel as a slave.  It allowed Tamaran to renounce the treaty Blackfire established, and finally battered the Gordanians into submission, and the king himself personally led the armies to glory.  Brightfire was also the first Tamaranean monarch to visit Earth, and for a very special occasion: Starfire's marriage to the man she loved, Dick Grayson, AKA Nightwing, who just so happens to be Brightfire's son-in-law.

Although he is a calm and level-headed monarch, Brightfire has been known for his occasional eccentricity, and when Nightwing and Starfire were to be married, he lavished the happy couple with their villas in Gotham and Jump City.  He initially hoped to give them both a castle, but Starfire insisted that it was not right for Tamaraneans to force their culture upon humans.  So, the king acquiesced in favor of his daughter's prudence.

Brightfire is also the grandfather of Mar'i and Jacob Grayson, and often sends his grandchildren gifts of the highest quality.
