Description "I am not my brother.  His ways are not the ways of all Colu."

Ten billion years ago, long before the Earth was even created, the Guardians of the Universe dedicated themselves to creating an intergalactic peacekeeping force that would understand and empathize with emotional beings, rather than eradicate them, like the Manhunters.  According to the Book of Oa, the Guardians of the Universe looked to the light for their answer.  They knew of its power and variety, but they chose the green light of willpower, and formed from it a weapon like no other before or since, one that could turn armies to ashes, willpower given form.  They gathered the greatest warriors in all the universe, but only 7 would be chosen: the first 7, which was recorded and remembered.  However, at the ceremony, the unexpected happened, what was recorded in the Book of Oa as an accident, but was simply the Universe expressing itself.  And it was the universe's will that while the first three lanterns be Alitha of the New Gods, Z'kran Z'rann of Mars and Jan-Al of Krypton, so too was it the universe's will that four others who were not fit to be recognized as warriors be made Lanterns, and among them was Kaja Dox: a humble engineer and inventor from the planet Colu.

Since time immemorial, the Coluans were master inventors and engineers in the fields of technological advancement and robotics.  As such, this led to their delving into biomechanical eugenics to become completely technorganic: a near total fusion of organic and technological matter to the point where it was hard to distinguish what was machine and what was flesh and blood.  Kaja Dox and her brother, Vril, were among one of Colu's promising rising families.  This was in part thanks to the Computer Oligarchs commending Vril's insatiable hunger for knowledge.  Yet what they did not know was that Kaja detested her brother's ways, as he ultimately proposed a way of gaining knowledge from other worlds and preserving them so that the Coluans would reign supreme across space and time: collect a planet's knowledge; then destroy it.

Kaja detested this, as life was far more precious than knowledge.  As such, a Green Lantern ring made its way to her finger and for her bravery to speak out against her brother and the Oligarchs, she became one of the first seven Green Lanterns.   And so it was for all time: the rings would choose their wearers.  Armed with the ring, Kaja Dox found new purpose in fighting against evil and tyranny, and she befriended another member of her Corps, the Tamaranean thief-turned-hero Tyran'r.  Together, they were able to face the likes of the Dominators and even Darkseid without fear. She even learned from Tyran'r how to make her own constructs.  This marked the beginning of the Green Lantern Corps, and all would be taught as the first Lanterns learned, but by then, only two remained, and Kaja was among them.

After countless victories, Kaja left to return to Colu, horrified by the rumors of what her brother had become: a power-crazed destroyer supported by the Oligarchs.  Kaja denonuced her brother, declaring that she would fight him tooth and nail to get him to see the error of his ways, even as she knew she could not change his mind.  Realizing that she was no longer welcome on Colu, Kaja and her wife, Ginger, found shelter on Tyran'r's home of Tamaran, now recently united by her old friend.  There, she fought alongside Tyran'r in the Kryptonian-Tamaranean War, and watched him ascend to new heights as King of all Tamaran.  Kaja and Ginger were immortal, but while they faded into obscurity, their descendants lived on.  Kaja and Ginger's great-great grandson went on to become Brainiac 5, and ultimately found his way to the 21st century, along with his own descendant, Brainiac 8, AKA Indigo, who just so happened to inherit all the good traits from Kaja.
