When Scarlett Taylor first became Variant, she thought that it would help her achieve her and Terrence Fisher's goals, unaware that her so-called partner was intending to kill her off the moment he took power. Yet what she hadn't planned on was when she hacked into Cyborg, that he would hack into her, which caused her to access his memories of facing Trigon with the Titans. The sight of the ultimate incarnation of evil terrified her, and forced Terrence Fisher to enact his contingency plans for her earlier than anticipated in an attempt to escape. Luckily, Cyborg was able to save her life by syncing her technology with his own. After the two stopped Fisher together in Iraq, and had him arrested for treason, Variant was truly moved that Cyborg told the CIA that he would watch over her and oversee her rehabilitation. Confused, she asked him why he would stick his neck out for her, even after all she did to him. At this, Cyborg replied that he couldn't stand to see someone like her being used as a weapon; especially someone who he could relate to. This revelation touched her, and now that she was in his debt, Variant decided it would be good to spend some time with Cyborg. This led to Scarlett accepting Nightwing's offer to fight crime as one of the Titans, while learning from Cyborg about how to master her new body: a decision that led to her falling in love with and marrying him.

Happy Valentine's Day, everybody!! It's been a while since I drew Variant, and seeing that my version of her is Cyborg's wife, I figured it was only right to upload the two of them to the gallery, and since February is also Black History Month, consider this to be part one of the two-part Black History Month special! Cyborg also learned some things from Variant as well, in regards to martial arts, learning Arabic, and various other skills she picked up in the Middle East. Though she found her husband's time being infected with the Endzone Virus as both bizarre and funny at the same time.
