Description Aqui está ela! Miriam Delgado, AKA Mirage!

Now you know how to say, "Here she is!  Miriam Delgado, AKA Mirage!" in Portuguese.

Miriam Delgado was born and raised for most of her life in Rio de Janeiro, the bustling capital of Brazil.  Orphaned at a young age, she was living on the streets since she was 4, but then at the age of 5, she was adopted by a loving caring couple from the wealthier parts of the city.  There, Miriam was taught the ways of a proper lady, growing up to be among one of Brazil's most beautiful bachelorettes.  However, whereas in the comics, she was captured by Time Trapper and given false memories, this iteration of Miriam was sent a horrible vision when she was just 15.  In the nightmare, she saw events of a possible future that would result in pain and endless suffering, not by the hands of Extant or Lord Chaos (Villains from the comics during the Zero Hour event), but by Raven's malicious father - the interdimensional demon known as Trigon the Terrible!

Luckily, Miriam didn't know it, but her biological parents were metahumans, and because of that, she was born with her mother's power to change her appearance and cast illusions.  Although she could only change into other females as well as female versions of iconic male figures, since that was harder for her to pull off.  Another one of her abilities, which she inherited from her father, was that she was psychic.  She called out for help, trying to establish a mental link with anyone who could hear her.  And that someone was none other than Trigon's own daughter: Raven, one of the founding members of the Titans.  Miriam told Raven all about the dream, and that she had superpowers.  At the behest of Arsenal, who quickly saw some potential in the girl, Miriam decided to catch the next flight to the United States, where she took on the mantle of Mirage, becoming one of the newest members of the current iteration of the Teen Titans!

Coming from one of the largest countries in South America, and the only one that was a former Portuguese Colony, Mirage has a thick Portuguese accent, since that's her native language.  Though she also speaks Spanish, English and Japanese as well.  Like many Brazilian women, she's beautiful, ambitious and very open.  However, she's also very family oriented, passionate, girly and coquettish.  The Californian climate near Titans Tower is just perfect for her to still go out in a bikini on the beach, or in a dress while going out.  However, she's also very much eager for love, so if she sees a guy she likes, she'll be all over him, so long as he's a gentleman.  Mirage doesn't do men who are arrogant and misogynistic.  Her best friends include Argent, Hawk, Nightstar, Solstice, Prysm and Miss Martian, mainly because she's very interested in other cultures, as well as the arts, politics, soccer, and above all: dancing.  She even is very open to sharing Brazilian culture with the other Titans.

Sidenote:  I chose to give Mirage regular white sclera, rather than black ones like in the comics.  This is because in anime and manga, characters with black sclera are usually associated with being monsters or they are possessed by demons, and I didn't want to give that impression on Mirage, since she's a superhero.

Disclaimer:  Mirage belongs to DC Comics, Marv Wolfman and Tom Grummett.

The way you drew her eyes and long hair look great! I like the colors you used. The written info you do with the characters is nice to read. I learn new things when I read them.

Thanks! I’m glad that you think so. I like to include a little bit about the characters I draw, so people who aren’t familiar with the comics can get the basic idea of who they are and their past.

You are welcome! I can tell you put effort and time into the things you draw and the things you write. It is very nice you do that for other people

I do indeed! It takes me a while for me to draw them, a lot of trial and error is involved. And sometimes I even find myself in what I dub artist’s block.

Sexy, isn't she?  No surprise since she's, y'know...Brazilian?

Miriam, the Brazilian beauty. The normal looking eyes are a nice touch (her demon eyes in the comics never made sense to me). Another great piece.

Thanks as always! I'm definitely not having her disguise herself as Starfire and make love with Nightwing. I will never forgive DC for that! Instead, I decided to class her up, like with Hawk and Argent. She's also very feminine, emotional and passionate. So since she doesn't want to be treated badly by the guy she dates, we probably should think of whom to pair her up with. Like Starfire, Mirage is very open, affectionate and clingy. Think maybe someone like Bushido or Gnaark would be suitable?

Yeah, I’m well aware of the fact, but Dick didn’t know that it was a different person until Starfire freed herself from her bonds.

Well, given that your version of Miriam is very open, affectionate and clingy, I feel that most guys would be off put by her (she'd come on too strong, and they'd either be confused or intimidated by her). There is, however one guy whom I feel wouldn't be off put by her. This character choice is very unorthodox, but going with your versions of these characters, I feel it's believable. As strange as this may sound, I feel the guy who wouldn't be off put by her, would be..................... Wildebeest.

Since he has the backstory where he was originally an Azarathian who was reborn into that beast body, he's not really an animal. He's a teenager just like the other Titans, so he has human level intelligence. I also feel that he can speak limited language (since his vocal chords are only similar to that of humans), but if one were to communicate with him psychically, they could have and intelligent conversation with him, and since Miriam has psychic powers, she can do this. As for why he wouldn't be off put by her, well that's because given the fact that he can't communicate well verbally, most people don't hang with him or befriend him. Miriam's openness would draw him towards her, and since he doesn't really have many friends, he would treat her with the utmost respect. That in turn would draw Miriam to him, since your version of her prefers guys who are gentlemen.

As weird as that sounds, that actually may work! Thanks! I also think that match up is kind of cute, since Baby Wildebeest was originally an Azarathian little boy reborn into that body. He can definitely talk normally like other humans, but since he's also got an animal's body, he can "talk" with other animals. Which is to say, he can translate what they are saying, like Beast Boy can. Plus I feel that Pantha wouldn't have a problem with Mirage dating her surrogate son.

Pantha and Red Star would definitely both be happy that their surrogate son had found as kind and loving as Miriam. Miriam could even help him find a name for himself (cause I'm sure he wouldn't want to always be called Wildebeest).

That'd be cute! As a little girl, Mirage would've gone on boat rides down the Amazon River, visited the Manaus fish market and gone on hikes in the Amazon Rainforest, so she and Baby Wildebeest would really hit it off. Plus she could have a fish tank in her dorm room that has fish from the Amazon like Arapaima, South American catfish, Piranha, electric eel and even stingray. Anyway, I gotta mow the lawn soon. Once I'm done, I'll get started on La'gaan and Hot Spot!
