He's actually one of DC's better known properties. He had his own TV show in the 70s. Most people only know him by "Shazam" though.

Yes. Captain Marvel comics were insanely popular in the 1940's. At some points they outsold Superman 2-1.

Yeah, that much I did know. Then DC went and sued and got the rights and just sat on them, so eventually it went on so long the name became available again and Marvel created thier own Captain Marvel, which is why both companies have one.

Pretty much. Though I don't think that they sat on it long enough for it to become available. Most of Marvel's characters with that name are called "Captain Mar-vel" with a dash. Most Captain Marvel comics get titled "Shazam!" because Marvel will threaten to sue for comics having the word marvel on the cover that aren't published by them.. Or something like that.. It get's very convoluted.

I also like the History of the Joke one with Lewis Black and all those other comedians, but I missed the Holiday one and it hasn't been on again.
Yeah, those useless facts are entertaining, and it's a lot better than all thier we have 6 years to live kinda shows.

I usually watch their Halloween specials. I caught the Thanksgiving one this year and enjoyed that.
Neil deGrasse Tyson is usually on the "death of humanity" type shows.. So they inherently gain an awesomeness factor.

Well, the thing is, from the little bit the Tivo caught of it, Lewis Black was hosting the holiday one too. I love his stuff on holiday's in his stand up act, I can't imagine what he'd come up with if they gave him a whole special just for that topic, even if he does have to teach some stuff. He could make learning fun!
