Description Here she is. The one remaining hot, one-shot Dexter's Lab woman I had yet to do fanart of. Actually, I guess there are probably a couple other obscure sexy female characters from that show that I've overlooked, but this was the last major one on my to-do list.

Miss Wimple was Dexter's teacher in the episode "Dexter Detention." Dexter was obviously teacher's pet and I dare say her adoration of his scholastic excellence perhaps crossed the line into romantic infatuation. This pic provides a possible explanation as to why she only appeared once. In my scenario, he appears to have earned a "detention" of her own.

I'm sure it was all very innocent, but if you saw a teacher making goo-goo eyes and blowing kisses at a student in real life, at the very least, they would soon be out of a job. Don't even get me started on how if the genders had been reversed in the cartoon, it would have come off as about a hundred times creepier. When there are news stories about a female teacher and male student engaging in hanky panky, it's somehow okay for everyone to crack jokes about how lucky that kid is, but when it's a male teacher and female student, all of a sudden it's no laughing matter, even though they're equally bad in the eyes of the law. Clearly, there's a bit of a double standard at work here.

I love the sexy school teacher fantasy as much as the next guy, but I just thought I'd suck some of the fun out it for everybody by pointing out the morally dubious aspects, and the potential real-life consequences.

Nah, I don't think so. She would only get suspended and then unless they actually got proof, they would just fire her.

Β I think the gag was to pull a reverse teacher's pet.

Double-standards man. Take that episode of KND when Numbuh 1 loses his trunks at the beach, there's no way that episode would've been aired if it had been a female characterΒ

Late to the party but the weird part is I don't think female teachers get harsh punishments based on things like that, but I think male teachers do. I remember being in elementary school coming in one day Β and one of my teachers was getting escorted out. It was a substitute teacher. Apparently the girls in my class didn't like the fact her was giving us "actual work" instead how substitutes give you like free time or fun and games. And Said he touched them. He got in loads of trouble and then later on they came forth and said they were lying. Nothing happened to them, and his image was forever tarnished. It was sad really.Β

Thanks for the illustration.Β

I can actually believe that.

People are a bit glib about the "sexual abuse" of males because men are perceived to always want it because patriarchy.

It begs the question of are we too protective of females or too indifferent to males.

Well, it's an Adam Sandler movie, so that's not so baffling to me. And I just looked it up- geez, that's the second time Susan Sarandon has played a teacher who had sex with her student. She had a similar role on 30 rock.

On a similar note, another double standard that occasionally crops up in movies and TV that I have an even bigger gripe with is when the rape of men by women is treated as a comedic subject- for example, the movie "40 Days and 40 Nights" comes to mind, as does a notorious episode of the sitcom "Too Close For Comfort." I haven't seen either of those, but I've read enough about them to get pissed off.

I recall a similar episode in George Lopez, it dealt with the concept of a female teacher having sex with her student, he and plenty of neighbors thought it was okay and he was called out on it a couple of times in the episode.

Huh, I haven't been keeping up with Luann, except every so often when Comics Curmudgeon features it. I know Brad was working for some lady who was featured in a story over a decade ago as a predatory lesbian and that things probably wouldn't end well, but that's about it. I actually haven't been following any of the syndicated comics all year.

Raygreens In reply to rocketdave [2011-10-29 21:57:12 +0000 UTC]

Yes, she's been sexually harassing Brad. His girlfriend Toni tried to stand up for him, so Effeil (the boss) fired Brad. Mom was saying how this will lead the comic into a sexual harassment case, but I said it wouldn't be taken seriously because of the ideas of "Guys always like it no matter what and girls are always victims and they hate sex". That ideology makes it so hard to find porn that I like. I'm stuck with OOC yaoi, and it's not because I'm a lesbian (I'm not) or that I'm stubborn about letting go of gender roles. I just like a DID is all. You know it's crazy that I can say this stuff on the internet but in real life everyone thinks I'm this sweet cute little girl.

Definitely not in real life, although I get why people would fantasize about it. I've been accused of not understanding the difference between fantasy and reality, which is a little unfair; I think I just like to analyze stuff like this a little more than some people. Some might say I overanalyze it. It's valid for me to say that it's okay for people to fantasize about taboo topics, but also to draw attention to what would happen in real life, for humorous effect and/or to give people something to think about.

That lame double standard has been around since antiquity. Let's not forget how misogynistic the stories in the Old Testament are when compared to a modern romance novel where the man and the woman are technically equal. Outdated social norms die hard.

eh, it's sexism. Same thing with everything else: it's ok for two seventh grade girls to strip a fifth grade boy of his clothes, but if that's reversed, it's the worst thing ever (this is a true story)

RedandBalck In reply to Raygreens [2018-02-12 07:12:53 +0000 UTC]

I can believe that.

People are a bit apathetic about the sexual manipulation of males by females because it's often assumed that males always want it and females don't.

The question I suppose is: are we a bit over protective of females, too hateful of males or a bit of both?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Raygreens In reply to RedandBalck [2018-02-16 03:05:11 +0000 UTC]

It's the idea that Many things in our society that harm men ( like expectations to repress emotions or the idea that men are horny rape-creatures with no self-control) stem from a patriarchal society that considers stereotypically feminine attributes to be lowly.
